In a groundbreaking operation, the Delhi Police's crime branch has cracked down on a sprawling racket involved in the manufacturing and selling of counterfeit cancer and chemotherapy drugs.

Ambassador Sripriya Ranganathan, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Washington D.C. received the award on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
This observation was made by the Apex Court bench while considering a plea alleging medical negligence by an ophthalmologist and an Eye Clinic, based in Bardhaman, West Bengal. It was alleged by the complainant that due to negligent cataract surgery by the doctor and the clinic, his 13-year-old boy lost complete vision in his right eye.
CAT halts Health Ministry order for Dr Surjit Singh's joining as PGI's dean
Putting a hold on the recent appointment of Prof Dr Surjit Singh as dean of academics, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) on Monday ordered the Director of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh not to accept his joining report till the next date of hearing.
In this regard, the bench comprising Ramesh Singh Thakur and Rashmi Saxena Sahni passed the direction against the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare order on March 8 which granted the appointment of Dr Surjit Singh, professor and head of the paediatric medicine department as the new dean in place of Dr Naresh Panda, professor and head of ENT department, who was holding the officiating charge of dean (academic). Furthermore, the order stated that Dr Panda would assume the position of Dean of Research.
Medical college inspections set to go online soon
Planning to put an end to 'inspector raj' and ensure transparency in the medical colleges' assessments, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has decided to do away with physical inspections. While the surprise inspections will continue, the apex medical regulator will implicitly rely on data from the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) portal.
Being a ‘digitally driven’ initiative, this move aims to reduce manual interference and data manipulations during the inspection process.
