Surgeon cannot be held responsible for gangrene: Consumer Court exonerates doctor
The State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Maharashtra recently exonerated a Mumbai-based surgeon from charges of medical negligence, while performing AVF fistula surgery on a patient, who died after developing gangrene.
Even though earlier the District Consumer Court at Bandra had held the doctor liable for negligence, the State Commission exonerated him holding that the District Commission did not consider the report from the Urology Department of Grant Medical College, J.J. Group of Hospitals, Surgery and overlooked the expert evidence, as per which, there was no negligence by the surgeon.

Supreme court issues notice on pleas seeking stipend for FMG internship
The issue of non-payment of stipends to Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) during their internship has been raised once again before the Apex Court as the medicos filed a plea seeking regular monthly stipends for medical graduates from abroad pursuing compulsory internships at different government medical colleges, teaching and non-teaching institutes in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.
While considering the pleas, the Supreme Court bench on Monday issued notice to 11 Government Medical Colleges, 6 teaching and non-teaching hospitals, the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), the Directorate of Health Services, the Kerala State Medical Council, the Kerala Government, and the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Halloween Party at MP Medical College campus sparks outrage
A recent video has gone viral on social media wherein the doctors and medical teachers at the Government Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College sprinkled Gangajal on the premises of the 150-year-old King Edward Medical School building after a spooky Halloween party was allegedly held on its campus.
According to recent media reports, the building was defaced for a Halloween party; ghostly messages-- “You made a mistake” and “RIP,” written on the wall as part of the Halloween decorations, left many feeling uneasy at the campus. Pictures of the building, shared on social media, showed it painted to look haunted. Speaking to PTI, eyewitnesses said the walls of the building were marked with "O Stree, Kal Aana" (lines inspired by a horror comedy movie) and several scary sentences written in English. Obscene pictures and objectionable lines have also been engraved, they said.

Maharashtra: Doctor kills self after harassment from husband, in-laws over Rs 1 crore demand
A doctor died by suicide in Maharashtra's Parbhani district after she was allegedly harassed by her husband and in-law who were pressuring her to bring Rs 1 crore from her parents, police said on Wednesday.
According to the FIR, Dr Priyanka Bhumre married Beed resident Nilesh Vharkate in 2022. After about two months, her in-laws allegedly demanded Rs 1 crore to set up a hospital and started harassing her mentally and physically.
