5 years govt service, Rs 25.77 lakh penalty: Haryana bond policy for MBBS students
MBBS students getting admitted to the government medical colleges in Haryana will either have to pay Rs 23,19,381 (female students) to Rs 25,77,090 (male students) bond or undergo compulsory government service for 5 years after completion of the course.
For the students pursuing their undergraduate medical education at the Government Aided Medical College (MAMC, Agroha), the bond amount is Rs 21,90,000 for male students and Rs 19,71,000 for female students.

Shri Arunish Chawla takes on additional role as chairman of National Pharmaceuticals Pricing Authority
In a recent notice, the Department of Pharmaceuticals, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertiliser, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has stated that Shri Arunish Chawla, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, has been assigned to the additional role of Chairman, National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA).
The decision was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) vide order No. 36/02/2024-EO(SM-1) dated August 1, 2024.

PG Medico death case: CBI reveals huge bibery and illegal medicine racket at RG Kar Medical College
In its ongoing investigation in connection with the brutal rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee at RG Kar Medical College Hospital in Kolkata, the CBI has uncovered a massive intra-state racket that was operating in the hospital for years.
During the investigation, the agency found that a massive racket involving bribes for transfer postings and an illegal medical syndicate had been in operation for several years, with connections to other state-run medical colleges.

Private medical colleges in Karnataka are implementing a 10 percent hike in MBBS fees
MBBS education in Karnataka has become costlier as the State Government has announced a 10 per cent increase in the undergraduate medical course fees at private colleges for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The fees for the private medical seats in the State have been increased from Rs 9,94,906, charged during the previous academic year to Rs 11,88,161 for this academic year.

Doctors and PG residents submit intervention pleas to the Supreme Court in RG Kar case
The Supreme Court bench comprising the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud has listed the RG Kar case for further hearing today i.e. August 22, 2024.
Meanwhile, associations of doctors and resident doctors have filed interventions in the matter. Approaching the Apex Court bench, the Delhi Medical Association (DMA) has prayed for directions to the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the State Health authorities to make safety at workplace & basic amenities, as mentioned in the Supreme Court order, a mandatory criteria for recognition of medical colleges and hospitals.
