UP: 70-Year-Old cardiologist duped of Rs 1.8 crore in matrimony fraud

A 70-year-old heart specialist has been cheated of nearly Rs 1.8 crore by a person whom he got matched with after placing an advertisement in the matrimonial classifieds of a leading English daily published in Lucknow.

The Times of India reports that after placing the advertisement, the doctor got a response from a Florida-based Krishna Sharma claiming to be a marine engineer. Krishna told the doctor that she was shifting to India, and was shipping South African gold worth 70,000 US dollars to an agency in Lucknow to avoid any hassles.

NMC releases curriculum guidelines for 77 PG, SS courses      

Moving towards a competency-based PG training programme, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has released the curriculum guidelines for 77 Broad Speciality and Super Speciality courses including 30 MD, 6 MS, 19 PG Diploma, 15 DM and 7 MCh specializations.

These regulations, prepared by Subject Expert Groups and scrutinized by the Reconciliation Board cum Expert Group of the NMC, determine training modules for Board and Super Speciality courses – PG medical Degree (MD, MS), PG Diploma, DM, and MCh courses being imparted across all medical institutes in India.

 No penal action against doctors who fail to appear for PC PNDT test: DME Haryana  

The Director of Medical Education (DME Haryana) has clarified that no penal action will be taken against doctors who have put in practice for not less than 15 years in case they do not take the Competency-Based Assessment Test for Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT).

As per the notification, the doctors will decide to appear for the test or not. The test will be held on 28th June 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and will be conducted by Pt. B.D. Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak.

Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences' Ayurveda question paper objectifies women, faces backlash 

The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) recently landed in a major controversy because of its IV year BAMS Degree Examination Question Paper, which allegedly objectified women by terming them to be sexual objects.

In the concerned paper of Kayachikitsa on June 15, 2022, the paper setters had asked the students to write a short essay on 'Stree as a Vajikarana dravya', which roughly translates to "Women as an aphrodisiac item."
