NEET UG 2025: MCC directs States to remove AIQ-allotted candidates from stray round
New Delhi: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has issued an urgent directive to state counselling authorities and candidates regarding the Special Stray Vacancy Round of the National Eligibility and Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) Counselling for the academic year 2025.
New Delhi: To elevate the scope of clinical and biomedical research among medical students at the graduation level, the Board of Governors of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved the integration of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) principles into the curricula of all MBBS, MD, MS, and PhD medical programmes.
With the approval for this integration, NMC has now cleared a key proposal aimed at strengthening students' aptitude for clinical research and boosting a robust research-oriented medical education framework in communicable, non-communicable diseases, blindness, diabetes, andother metabolic and haematological disorders; mental health research and drug research.

Maharashtra Bans Inter-District Transfers for PG Students Under District Residency Programme
Mumbai: Postgraduate medical students undergoing training under the District Residency Programme (DRP) in Maharashtra will not be allowed to avail inter-district transfers as the State Government has enforced a blanket ban in this regard.
The Hindustan Times has reported that the State has taken this decision, aiming to ensure continuity of medical services in rural, tribal and other underserved regions of the State.

Failure to Detect Hip Fracture: Ruby Hall Clinic, Orthopaedic Surgeon ordered to Pay Rs 1.2 Lakh Compensation
Mumbai: Holding Pune-based Ruby Hall Clinic, run by Grant Medical Foundation, and an orthopaedic surgeon guilty of medical negligence for their failure to detect a hip fracture in time, the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC), Maharashtra, recently directed them to pay Rs 85,000 as compensation to the patient, along with 6 percent annual interest.
Apart from this, the State Consumer Court has also directed the treating doctor and hospital to pay Rs 25,000 for mental and physical harassment suffered by the appellant, and Rs 10,000 towards the cost of the legal proceedings. In its order, the State Commission observed that the doctor and the hospital were negligent in not detecting the hip fracture at the appropriate time.
