NEET PG-2024 Dispute: Supreme Court Asks NMC to Consider Converting Medicine Seat to Radiodiagnosis

The Supreme Court recently issued directions to the National Medical Commission (NMC) to consider if the General Medicine seat occupied by a NEET-PG candidate could be converted to one under Radio Diagnosis.

Such a direction has been issued by the Apex Court as the concerned candidate had spent 6 months studying Radiodiagnosis before another candidate, who had a higher claim in the institutional reservation, became eligible for the Radio Diagnosis seat in question.

AIIMS Bhopal Admission Fraud: UP Student Booked for Document Forgery

A medical student from Uttar Pradesh was recently arrested for allegedly attempting to secure MBBS admission to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal, with a fake allotment letter.

The accused was arrested after the AIIMS officials discovered that there were discrepancies while conducting the document verification.

After a complaint was filed by an Assistant Clerk at the Registrar's office, Prashant Kumar Mishra, the accused was booked for charges of cheating and forgery, arrested, and subsequently sent to jail.

30,000 Bottles of Illegal Cough Syrup Seized in Assam, 2 Held

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Assam Police have seized illegal cough syrup bottles worth Rs 3 crore and arrested two individuals in connection with the case, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Wednesday.

A total of 30,420 bottles containing codeine phosphate were seized from a vehicle intercepted at the Churaibari outpost, located at the Assam-Tripura inter-state border, PTI reported.

"@assampolice intercepted a massive drug haul at Churaibari check post, seizing 30,420 bottles of Codeine Phosphate worth Rs 3 crore. 2 drug peddlers are behind bars. Solid strike against the drug menace," Sarma posted on X.
