Consumer court sets order against plastic surgeon over medical negligence allegations

Setting aside the District Consumer Court's order, the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC) recently exonerated a Chandigarh-based plastic surgeon from charges of medical negligence during a liposuction procedure.

The patient had alleged that the results of the liposuction surgery were not satisfactory and that the doctor had failed to provide the required medical records.

MCI regulations allow 30% faculty reservation for non-medical candidates is not mandatory: HC

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has recently ruled that it not mandatory for a medical college to fill up 30% of the total number of faculty posts from a non-medical stream. The Minimum Qualification for Teachers in Medical Institutions Regulations, 1998 (MCI Regulations) provides that in medical departments, the appointment of non-medical teachers to the extent of 30% of the total number of posts in the department is permissible.

The bench stated, "It is not mandatory for a medical college/medical institution to necessarily fill up 30% of the total number of posts in a discipline or even in the department by appointing non-medical students."

Faculty Crisis at MP Medical Colleges! DME to create 291 SR posts

The Department of Medical Education (DME) in Madhya Pradesh has decided to create 291 Senior Resident posts across various government medical colleges to address the shortage of faculties in medical colleges.

DME decided to increase the SR posts since the government medical colleges across Madhya Pradesh are facing a severe shortage of pre-clinical and para-clinical senior residents (SR).

NMC rebukes medical colleges for annual declaration delay, extends deadline with penalty

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has further extended the last date of submission of the Annual Declaration details/data of respective institutions on the NMC portal.

As per the public notice issued in this regard, despite several notices pertaining to uploading the Annual declaration details/data of respective institutions on the NMC portal, some medical colleges are yet to fill the Annual Declaration Form on the portal as required in the NMC Act, 2019 and various regulations issued by NMC from time to time.
