Maharashtra: Patient attacks resident doctors with knife at Yavatmal Hospital, doctors threaten protest

Violence against doctors was recently reported at Shri Vasantrao Naik Government Medical College (GMC) in Yavatmal district of Maharashtra, where two doctors were assaulted with a fruit cutter knife by a patient on Thursday.

Initially the patient attacked a resident doctor, who was on rounds in the hospital. When the other doctor came to the rescue of his colleague, he was also attacked.

Govt needs to rethink the strategy of Mixopathy: IMA President Dr Sharad Kumar Agarwal

The newly elected National President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Dr Sharad Kumar Agarwal, a renowned physician of Delhi/NCR, has urged the government to form a strategy to stop using Mixopathy, mixing of different medical disciplines.

He has taken over as the IMA National President – 2022-23 in Prayagraj in the gracious presence of Dr Ketan Desai, Past President of the World Medical Association, MCI & IMA. While Mixopathy has been a talk for a while and the Government is planning to introduce Integrated medicine and treatment protocols by 2030, IMA has also urged the Government to understand the impact of Mixopathy and rethink its strategy.

One-Time relief to MBBS abroad students: NMC validates older internships, CRRI done by FMGs before october 2022

In a major relief to Foreign medical graduates who have their Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship done/started by Foreign Medical Graduates in approved colleges/ hospitals/institutes according to old Medical Council of India (MCI) list on or before 21.10.2022, the National Medical Commission has allowed that such internships shall be considered valid by the National Medical Commission. This however, the NMC noted shall be only as a one-time measure.

This comes after National Medical Commission received various requests/ representations regarding internships done by Foreign Medical Graduates in approved colleges/ hospitals/institutes according to old MCI list after the publication and coming into force of NMC's Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI) Regulations, 2021 on 18.11.2021.
