Appeals against NMC to go to Centre, check out the mechanism
The medical colleges, denied approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC) for increasing its intake capacity or starting a new PG medical course now may appeal before the Central Government within 30 days of the NMC denial, stated the recent guidelines issued by the Union Health Ministry.
NMC, the apex medical education regulatory body in India has the supreme power to grant permission for setting up new medical colleges, approve an increase in the intake capacity of the medical colleges, give permission for starting a new PG medical course. Apart from these, NMC also grants recognition to the medical qualifications awarded by the Universities inside or outside India.
