A first-year law student was arrested in Indore for allegedly creating and selling a fake NEET-UG 2026 question paper using an artificial intelligence platform ahead of the June 21 re-examination. The accused, identified as Akshay Malviya from the Kanadiya area, allegedly used ChatGPT to generate the fake paper and then promoted it through Instagram, claiming that he had access to the genuine examination paper.

According to police, Malviya charged buyers between Rs 100 and Rs 200 for the document and is believed to have sold it to around 25 people. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Prevention Branch) Rajesh Kumar Tripathi said the fake paper had no resemblance to the actual NEET-UG question paper, according to PTI report.

Investigators suspect the number of buyers may be higher and further inquiries are underway. The arrest comes amid heightened scrutiny of the NEET-UG examination process after the original May 3 exam was cancelled following allegations of a paper leak. The National Testing Agency conducted the re-examination on June 21 under strict security arrangements across the country. Authorities are continuing efforts to crack down on misinformation, fraud and malpractice linked to the high-stakes medical entrance test.
