Resident doctors leave ICU patients to attend birthday party, Mumbai Hospital demands cancellation of registration
Taking strict action against doctors who had allegedly abandoned intensive care unit (ICU) and trauma intensive care unit (TICU) patients for hours for celebrating a birthday, the V N Desai Municipal General Hospital authorities have urged the Deputy Municipal Commissioner for cancelling their registration.
Even though show-cause notice had been issued against these contractual doctors, who had left seven ICU patients to their fate, they did not respond to the notice.
The matter goes back to September 2022, when these doctors had left seven ICU patients for celebrating the birthday of a colleague at Dr. RN Cooper Hospital. Taking note of the absence of these doctors, the nurses at the hospital had made a note in their diary at 3:40 am on September 17, 2022.
