Diabetes ketoacidosis risk factor in Covid-19 patients 

Covid -19 still poses lot of questions that needs to be answered with lot  of complications rising each day. Diabetes the most common metabolic disorder affects the body systems greatly, however diabetes mellitus is not a risk for developing COVID-19.Diabetics have worse outcomes once infected with COVID-19.

COVID-19 increased the prevalence of Diabetic Ketoacidosis with higher mortality rates secondary to COVID-19 severity, not Diabetic Ketoacidosis. We suggest Diabetic Ketoacidosis screening in all COVID-19 patients and prioritizing ICU Diabetic Ketoacidosis /COVID-19 with low oxygen saturation, blood pressures, or renal insufficiency reports a new study in Diabetes & Metabolic Syndrome journal.

Physical activity to improve diabetes mellitus in older adults

Diabetes has been associated with several cardiovascular and kidney and nerve disorders. According to a study in Diabetes & Metabolic Syndrome journal findings show that frequent physical activity is associated with a lower risk of diabetes in older adults. The results underscore the need to develop strategies of promoting an active lifestyle by maintaining physical activity to combat the diabetes epidemic in the older population.

Isometric exercise better than HIIT for Blood Pressure Management 

Exercise is a key to most health problems. Both Isometric exercise training (IET) and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) are effective in the control of resting blood pressure, IET appears to be the superior method of exercise. HIIT, on the other hand, may have broader physiological advantages, such as lower resting heart rate, says an article published in British Journal of Sports Medicine on 15th December, 2021.

IET and high intensity interval training (HIIT) have recently been discovered to be effective types of exercise that result in considerable blood pressure decreases. However, information comparing the effectiveness of different modalities is still lacking. As a result, the goal of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to look at the individual and combined effects of IET and HIIT on blood pressure.

Breakfast consumption with intensive lifestyle intervention tied to greater weight loss in obese

A recent study in the journal Obesity has revealed that eating breakfast is tied to a greater weight loss during an intensive lifestyle intervention (ILI) for obese/overweight people. This was mediated by increased physical activity.

Observational studies have shown breakfast skipping to be associated with obesity and related cardiometabolic outcomes, however, the association between breakfast eating and weight loss is not well-established. Study in Diabetes and Metabolism, determined breakfast consumption frequency (BCF) is associated with weight-loss outcomes in the Look AHEAD (Action for Health in Diabetes), a randomized trial comparing intensive lifestyle intervention (ILI) to diabetes support and education (DSE) in adults with overweight/obesity and type 2 diabetes.
