In conversation with the Editor in Chief of the rank one Nephrology journal of the country, "Indian Journal of Nephrology" published by scientific scholar, Dr. Vivekanand Jha.
Dr. Vivekanand Jha is the Executive Director at The George Institute for Global Health, India, Professor and Chair of Global Kidney Health, Imperial College, London. He is also the Conjoint Professor of Medicine, University of New South Wales, Sydney as well as a Professor at the Prasanna school of Public Health, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, India. He has been the immediate Past President (2019 – 2021) of the International Society of Nephrology.
He speaks about how the discipline of Nephrology has developed in the country in the past decade and its major developments from the patient perspective, the key challenges for a practising nephrologist, both at the urban and rural setting in today’s time and how they can tackle the same. He answers to the state of cadaveric transplantation in India, why there is a waiting list for years and how it can be tackled.
He further emphasizes on how the journal, Indian Journal of Nephrology has contributed towards enhancing the state of art clinical approach of this discipline in the country. And lastly, as the Editor in Chief of this prestigious journal, what are his visions forward and a word of advice for upcoming young Nephrologists and scientists in this field.
