MLA turns Doctor to perform emergency operation in absence of Civil Surgeon

Mizoram: Dr K Beichhua, an MLA from Mizoram, left everything and listened to his call of duty as a doctor as soon as he came to know when a woman in his constituency required an emergency procedure. Currently an MLA, the passout from Regional Medical College in Imphal immediately decided to carry out the operation when he heard that the surgeon at Saiha district hospital was away on a training programme in Imphal
Hindustan Times reported the incident first, highlighting the emergency case of 35 year old woman with abdominal perforation who had come to the Saiha District hospital
"I was informed that a 35-year old woman was having severe abdominal pain and needed to be operated immediately. The woman's stomach had a large perforation (hole) and if the operation had not been performed, she may have died," Dr Beichhua told Hindustan Times, adding he left his political engagements and rushed to perform the surgery.
