NBE issues clarification on Submission of Application for DNB, FNB Accreditation renewal

New Delhi: Through a recent notice, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) has informed about the submission of application for renewal of accreditation to DNB and FNB programmes.

The NBE accredits hospitals/institutions for running DNB program in various Broad & Super Specialty disciplines and FNB program in various subspecialty disciplines of modern medicine.

All concerned government hospitals, PSU Hospitals, Railway Board Hospitals, AFMS Hospitals, Municipal Hospitals, etc are hereby informed that the NBE accredited hospitals desirous of renewal of accreditation in the concerned speciality are required to submit online application through the Online Accreditation Application Portal (OAAP) at the website of NBE.

The notice clearly states that the application for renewal of accreditation has to be submitted nine months prior to the expiry of the ongoing accreditation.

This effectively means that for accreditation ending in December of a particular year, the online application has to be submitted in January application cycle of the same year. For accreditation ending in June of a particular year, the online application has to be submitted in July application cycle of the preceding year.

Accredited hospitals are requested to adhere to the above time schedule in order to ensure continuity of the training programme (subject to fulfilment of minimum accreditation criteria).


National Board of Examinations (NBE) administers postgraduate and postdoctoral course in various disciplines of modern medicine leading to the award of Diplomate of National Board (DNB) and Fellow of National Board (FNB). DNB is a Post Graduate level degree programme administered by NBE in 30 Broad Specialty and 30 Super Specialty disciplines. NBE is also entrusted with the responsibility of conducting NEET PG, NEET SS, NEET MDS and FMGE Screening Test.
