New Delhi: Doctor detained with Rs 70 lakhs in 100 notes

New Delhi : A paediatrician was detained for allegedly possessing around Rs 70 lakhs in Rs 100 denominations in central Delhi's Paharganj, police has informed.


The doctor, identified as Nallal, was allegedly putting bundles of cash in his car when a passerby noticed him and made a PCR call, said a police officer.


Nallal was detained and it was found that he was carrying Rs 69,86,000 in Rs 100 denominations.

The accused told the police that a friend of his had given him the money to keep. He said that he was taking the cash to his house in Rajouri Garden.


The police were acting on an tip-off that the doctor, who runs a private clinic in west Delhi’s Rajouri Garden, was carrying Rs.2.5 crore in cash, reports The Hindu.



The matter has been forwarded to the income tax department, the source and destination of the cash is being probed by them, said a senior police officer.
