6 arrested for alleged involvement in sex determination test
NEW DELHI: Conducting sex determination test has landed six persons including a doctor and three women behind bars even as two conspirators managed to flee after a Dwarka-based diagnostic centre was raided by joint PC and PNDT teams of Delhi and Haryana Governments.
According to the statement, the teams raided the Dr VK Mutreja-Vishank Diagnostic Centre, located in Central Market, yesterday, district magistrate (South-West) Madhu Teotia said in a statement.
"A decoy pregnant lady brought by the Haryana team and another lady who came there on her volition underwent sex determination test, violating pre-conception and pre-natal diagnostic test (PC and PNDT) law and leading to the arrests," the statement reads.
Those arrested have been identified as Dr Mutreja, middlemen Rakesh and Pawan, a female tout Mukesh, Reena who came for the test allegedly on her own along with her mother-in-law Sarla. Two conspirators, identified as Ashok and Rajesh, are absconding.
An FIR has been registered in this connection with Dwarka North police station, the statement said.
SDM (Dwarka) JB Kapil, nodal officer for PC and PNDT, South-West district and eight Haryana government officials were part of team which took the action.
