Meerut: In a tragic turn of events, two MBBS students died and two others injured when their speeding car rammed into a wall in the Civil Lines area on Wednesday.

The injured were taken to the hospital where their condition is stated to be serious.

Speaking on the incident, the police informed UNI that the two MBBS students along with their two classmates left the LLRM medical college this morning in a car. Police said that the students were on their way back from a birthday party of one of their batchmates. The speed of the car was roughly 100 kilometres per hour, they added, which was the probable cause of the accident. The vehicle was damaged to an "unrepairable extent", cops said, as quoted by TOI.

According to the people near Saket petrol pump the driver lost control of the car and rammed into a wall, killing the 2 medicos on the spot. Two others sitting on the rear seats sustained serious injuries in the accident.

"According to our information, four people were travelling in the car, among which two were declared 'brought dead' by doctors. They were *** and ***. The two others who got injured were***, who has been referred to Max hospital in New Delhi because of a critical injury to his spinal cord, and ***, an MBBS 2018 batch student from Baraut, who is under treatment at the trauma center of the Lala Lajpat Rai Medical (LLRM) College, where all four were studying," station house office of Civil Lines police station Ramesh Chandra informed TOI.

The bodies have been sent for post mortem and the kin of two students have been informed about the accident. The cause of the accident is being investigated by scanning the CCTV footage from nearby establishments.
