Bhopal: Medical education in Madhya Pradesh is going to get a major boost as the State Government on Tuesday has given nod for setting up six new medical colleges. In fact, the Government has already allotted an amount of Rs 1547.45 crore for the construction of these medical institutes.

These new medical colleges would come up in Mandla, Singrauli, Sheopur, Rajgarh, Neemuch, and Mandsaur, a public relation department official informed PTI.

The decision to constitute these medical colleges was taken at the state cabinet meeting, which was chaired by the Chief Minister of the State Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

The cabinet has given administrative approval of Rs 249.63 crore for Mandla, Rs 258.07 crore for Singrauli, Rs 256.83 crore for Sheopur, Rs 256.55 crore for Rajgarh, Rs 255.78 crore for Neemuch, and Rs 270.59 crore for Mandsaur, the official added.

Medical Dialogues had recently reported that the MP State cabinet had given its approval for the allotment of 97,452 square metres of vacant land near Kanavati on Mhow Nasirabad Road for setting up a medical college.

As per the data provided by the MoS Health Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar before the Lok Sabha, Madhya Pradesh presently has a total number of 23 medical colleges. Among these, 14 medical colleges are run by the Government and 9 medical colleges are run by private management. So, there are a total number of 3585 MBBS seats in Madhya Pradesh and among them, 2135 MBBS seats are in Government institutes and another 1450 MBBS seats belong to the 9 private medical colleges.

Now, bringing good news to the medical aspirants of the State, the Government has announced setting up 6 new medical colleges.
