MP Cabinet approves establishment of new medical college, allots land
Bhopal: Bringing good news to the medical aspirants of the State, the Madhya Pradesh cabinet has recently approved the establishment of a new medical college and for this purpose, the Government has allotted the designated land as well.
The State Medical Education department has been given a nod from the cabinet for the allotment of 97,452 square metres of vacant land near Kanavati on Mhow Nasirabad Road for setting up the medical college, reports TOI.
Madhya Pradesh currently has a total number of 23 medical colleges with an intake capacity of 3585 MBBS seats. Among these medical colleges, 14 are run by the Government, whereas 9 medical colleges are run by private management. There are a total number of 2135 MBBS seats in the government medical colleges of the State, and another 1450 MBBS seats belong to the 9 private medical colleges, revealed the data provided by the MoS Health Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar.

As per the latest media report by the Times of India, recently the council of ministers approved the allotment of 97,452 sq metre of land in Neemuch for the constitution of the new medical college.
The daily further adds that the land is currently owned by the Neemuch municipality and it has been allocated to the medical education department at an annual rent of Rs 1.

However, the land has been given to the medical education department on certain conditions. The conditions include criteria that the residential land would be rezoned for public use, adds Edex Live.
Apart from the new medical college, the State cabinet has also approved for setting up 11 new government colleges and for these medical colleges the cabinet has decided to start 233 academic, 228 non-academic posts.
