New Delhi : The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has set a deadline for admission to MBBS course and has clarified that April 28, 2022 is the last date for MBBS admission.
Confirming the same, Director Prof. (Dr.) B. Srinivas, ADG (ME) & Member Secretary, MCC recently wrote to NMC Secretary, Dr. Sandhya Bhullar and stated, "Accordingly, the last date of admissions of UG Counseling for the academic year 2021 for MBBS courses may be notified on NMC website for information knowledge of state counseling authorities."
The Schedule of last date of Admission Undergraduate (MBBS) Course is as follows:
S.NO | Counselling for the Course | Last date for Admission for the academic year 2021 for MBBS courses |
1 | MBBS | 28th April , 2022 |
The entire academic calendar of medical education, both at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels got messed up because of the covid-19 pandemic and later because of the pending court cases. Both the NEET-UG and NEET-PG examinations were held in September 2021, after both getting postponed due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, there were hurdles in the publication of UG entrance results because Bombay High Court had directed NTA to conduct a fresh test for two candidates. Even even after the publication of results for both of these entrance tests, the admission process came at a halt as a batch of petitions had been filed before the Apex Court challenging the Centre and Medical Counselling Committee's (MCC) July 29th dated notification providing 27 per cent reservation for OBC and 10 per cent for EWS category for PG Medical admissions via NEET PG Counselling 2021.
Finally, after a long delay, the issue resolved by the interference of the Supreme Court and Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the NEET-UG counselling began in January.
However, the admission process for UG medical courses are yet to be over and in this respect, the National Medical Commission has now come forward and stated that April 28, 2022 will be the last date for admission to MBBS courses.
