Around 80000 Candidates Registered For NEET UG 2023 from Gujarat
Gujarat: In the state of Gujarat, NEET UG 2023 will be conducted on 7 May 2023 in both English and Gujarati languages.
Around 80000 candidates across Gujarat have registered for the exam, according to TOI report. Last year around 79000 candidates registered for the NEET UG exam in the state. This year not much increase in registration is seen.
This year an extension was given to the candidates to register themselves for NEET UG 2-023 exam—the process which was carried out online mode that ended on 15.04.2023. NEET UG is a centralized test for admission to medical and dental undergraduate courses by National Testing Agency (NTA).
The Professional Undergraduate Medical Courses (ACPUGMEC) handles NEET UG counselling and admission processes. The counselling process is usually carried out in 4 rounds (round 1, round 2, mop-up, and spot round). Spot round is conducted only if seats remain vacant after the first 3 rounds.
The counselling process comprises registration, merit list preparation, choice filling, seat allocation, and reporting to the allotted institute. Interested and eligible candidates can apply for counselling by visiting the official website at https://www.medadmgujarat.org/. The candidates who have qualified NEET UG 2023 exam are only eligible for counselling. These candidates must be citizens of India at 17 years of age as of 31.12.2023. They will have passed 10+2 with a recognized board.
The Government of Gujarat, in the Legislative Assembly, has passed an act, Act No.3 of 2008, called “Gujarat Professional Educational Medical Colleges or Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Fixation of Fees) Act, 2007”, to make special provision for the regulation of admission in the Professional Medical educational courses in the State and fixation of fees in such colleges or institutions and for matter connected in addition to that. As per the powers conferred to State Government, in Section 20(1) of the said Act, the Government of Gujarat, by way of a notification, had constituted Professional Undergraduate Medical Courses (ACPUGMEC) to regulate the admission of candidates to the professional undergraduate's courses.
