North Kashmir to get first Ayurvedic medical college in Sopore

Kashmir: In a boost to healthcare infrastructure, North Kashmir will soon get its first Ayurvedic medical college. The government has decided to establish the institution in Sopore.

This announcement was made recently during the ongoing budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

The local MLA Irshad Rasool Kar described the move as "historic and happy" and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

Speaking to KashmirLife during the session, MLA Kar said, "The promises made by the CM during election rallies and his statements about giving special attention to Sopore are now bearing fruit. I am sincerely grateful to him for this."

Meanwhile, residents described the new medical college as a major milestone for the healthcare sector in North Kashmir, saying it would provide better access to traditional Ayurvedic education and services in the region. (KNO)

The government is committed to implementing its manifesto during its term, and the rental schemes will gradually be extended to people from the general category as well.

Medical Dialogues had recently reported that as part of a major expansion of medical education in the Union Territory, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced on Friday that the government is taking concrete steps to strengthen the foundations of the healthcare sector. This year, 548 new medical seats will be added to increase educational capacity.

These seats reportedly include 340 new MBBS seats, 128 postgraduate seats, 34 postgraduate Ayurveda seats, and 46 Diplomate of National Board (DNB) seats.

This announcement was made during the budget presentation in the Legislative Assembly. The Chief Minister had stated , "This year, we are adding 548 medical seats to increase educational capacity”.
