TN Health Invites Online Applications For Admission To MD Unani Course, details

Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu Health (TN Health) has invited online applications from eligible candidates for admission to the MD Unani PG Degree course 2022- 2023 session at Government Unani Medical College, Chennai.

The application form can be downloaded from 22.03.2023 to 28.03.2023 up to 05.00 pm. The last date to submit the filled-in application is 28.03.2023 up to 05.00 pm. Application forms have to be downloaded and filled out. The application can be downloaded from the Government website www.tnhealth.tn.gov.in.

All filled-incompleted applications and necessary documents should be submitted to “The Secretary, Selection Committee, Directorate of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy, Arignar Anna Govt. Hospital of Indian Medicine Campus, Arumbakkam, Chennai – 600 106” before 28.03.2023, 5.00 pm.

Candidates should read the prospectus carefully before filling out the application form. Any request to change/modify/alter/edit information provided by the candidates will not be entertained under any circumstances.

The candidates will have to pay Rs 3000 for an application form. They will have to remit the application cost in cash during Counseling. The SC/SCA/ST candidates are exempted from paying Application Costs. The SC/SCA/ST candidates are requested to submit 2 photocopies of the community certificate for their claim for exemption.

Applications received with incomplete or insufficient particulars, without enclosures, or after the last date and time will not be accepted, irrespective of the booking date at postal/courier services. No correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

Service candidates should forward their applications only through the proper channel with the remarks of the forwarding authorities in the format prescribed in the application form. It should compulsorily reach on or before the last date as mentioned above. If not, applications will be summarily rejected irrespective of the date of submission by the candidates and the date of forwarding by the competent authority. Advance copies from the service candidates will not be accepted. They should have obtained qualification marks in AIAPGET 2022(UNANI).

Non-service Candidates Non-service candidates should send their applications directly to the Secretary, Selection Committee Office.

All the enclosures prescribed should be self–attested true photocopies only. The originals should be produced only at the time of Counseling and admission. A self-attested passport-size photograph should be affixed on the front page of the application form in the space provided. The photograph should be identical to the photo attached to AIAPGET 2022 (Unani) Hall Ticket.

Candidates who desire immediate acknowledgment should advise the postal or courier service and pay the required fees. An acknowledgment card confirming receipt of the application with the required particulars (Application Registration Number) will be sent to prima facie eligible candidates if sufficient time is available before Counseling. Alternatively, the candidate may visit the website for the general merit list.

Persons with Bench Mark Disability should obtain a Medical and Eligibility certificate and submit it from District Medical Board Authority.

Eligibility for admission –

1. A pass in BUMS Degree course conducted by The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University or any other recognized Indian University.

2. Completion of Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI) on or before the Counseling date for admission to MD Unani.

3. Should have been registered with the Tamil Nadu Board of Indian Medicine before the actual date of Counseling.

4. Candidate should have appeared in AIAPGET 2022 (UNANI) and secured a place in the common merit list arrived at by MoA / NTA AIAPGET 2022 (UNANI).

5. It shall be necessary for the candidates to obtain a minimum of marks at the 50th percentile in AIAPGET 2022 (Unani). However, in respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes (Arunthathiyar), Scheduled Castes, Most Backward Classes and Denotified Community, Backward Classes (Muslim), Backward Classes, the Minimum marks shall be at the 40th Percentile in AIAPGET 2022 (Unani). In respect of candidates with Bench Mark disability, the minimum marks shall be at the 45th percentile for General Category candidates and 40th Percentile for Backward Classes, Backward Classes (Muslim), Most Backward Classes and Denotified Communities Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Castes (Arunthathiyar) & Scheduled Tribes candidates

6. At the time of Counseling, the candidate should produce the 2nd Provisional Certificate or Degree Certificate from the Affiliating University and Medical Registration Certificate issued by Tamil Nadu Board of Indian Medicine, Chennai, in original.

7. The candidate should be a Citizen of India and have undergone BUMS Course in Tamil Nadu. Candidates of Tamil Nadu nativity who have completed BUMS Courses in other States shall furnish a Certificate of Nativity in Tamil Nadu issued by a competent authority only in the specified format prescribed in the application and should also produce the Eligibility Certificate from the TN Dr. M.G.R. Medical University before attending the Counseling.

Not eligible for admission –

1. Candidates who joined a Post Graduate Degree in any branch and discontinued the course on any grounds after the cutoff date fixed by NCISM are not eligible to apply for two subsequent academic years.

2. Candidates who have completed a Post Graduate Degree or possess a Post Graduate Degree in one Specialty / Branch of study are not eligible to apply for admission to any other Post Graduate degree, i.e., in other branches.

3. Occasionally list candidates given as not eligible by the AYUSH Admissions Central Counselling Committee (AACCC).

Declaration of merit list –

The merit list will be arrived at by taking together the computed marks of the marks obtained in the AIAPGET 2022 (Unani) by the applicants and the marks awarded for Experience/ Hill station service or both. The tentative rank list will be published on the official website, www.tnhealth.tn.gov.in, after the completion of scrutiny of all applications received for the academic year 2022 – 2023.

In case more than one candidate has secured the same number of marks; the tie shall be resolved based on the following factors in the order of priority –

Total Marks obtained in the AIAPGET 2022 (UNANI) together with the post–BUMS Experience Marks -

1. Rank obtained in the AIAPGET 2022 (UNANI)

2. Total Marks obtained in Final BUMS (If the Rank of not given by AIAPGET)

3. Date of Birth (Seniority in age will be given preference)

Seats –

The number of seats available for Counseling may be changed without notice. However, the exact distribution of seats, SpecialtiesSpecialty wise, will be displayed on the notice board at the Selection Committee, Directorate of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy before the commencement of Counseling on receipt of seat matrices from the affiliating University before the counseling schedule for PG courses.

50% of seats in each Specialty are reserved for service candidates; in addition to those, service candidates can also opt in for Open Category based on the General Merit and communal rotation. Suppose the reserved seats for Service candidates are not filled due to a lack of eligible candidates in the merit list. In that case, the seats will be converted to the General category and filled by Nonservice candidates based on Merit and Communal rotation.

Detailed seat matrix –

A total of 35 seats are available. Govt. Unani Medical College, Chennai, has 1 PwD seat, 7 sanctioned seats, 1 AIQ seat, and 6 state quota seats. The other seats included are Br. I Moalajat (General Medicine) with 3 seats, Br. II Ilaj Bid Tadbeer (Regimen Therapy) with 4 seats, AIQ with 7 seats, Service Candidates with 3 seats, and Service & Non–Service Candidates based on Merit with 3 seats.

Counseling details -

The candidates should be physically present for Counseling on the date of Counseling at their own cost at the venue, which will be intimated through the website only. Those who fail to attend the Counseling will forfeit their chance and seat.

Tentative counseling schedule –

30-03-2023 –

Venue - Selection Committee, Directorate Of Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy, Aringar Anna Govt. Hospital Of Indian Medicine Campus, Arumbakkam, Chennai

1. 10.00 am - Service Candidates

2. 11.00 am - Non-Service Candidates

The candidates note that no individual call letters will be sent. They will have to present at 09.00 am in the venue for verification of certificates at their own cost and should remit non-refundable processing fees of Rs. 1000 for Counseling by cash.

TN Health has further notified that, since more candidates are being called for Counseling, allotment is not guaranteed to everyone. Candidates should pay tuition fees of Rs. 5000 in cash only after allotment to get the allotment order. After receiving the joining report from the Principal of Government Unani Medical college, this amount will be transferred to the College to get adjusted with the Tuition Fees to be paid by the candidates. If the candidate fails to join the course after getting the allotment order within the stipulated time, they will forfeit this amount and the seat allotted.

If the candidates are absent for the 1st Phase of Counseling called for they cannot attend the subsequent phases of Counseling. Candidates without original certificates/documents who attended the first phase of counseling will not be allowed to participate in the second or subsequent phases. No separate letter for Counseling will be issued. Candidates selected through AACCC are not eligible to participate in state counseling.

Candidates should produce the following original certificates/documents –

1. AIAPGET 2022 Admit Card and Scorecard

2. Transfer certificate from the College last studied.

3. BUMS Degree Certificate / Provisional Certificate

4. CRRI Completion Certificate

5. Registration Certificate

6. Nativity Certificate

7. Community Certificate


Mode of selection and admission –

Admission to the course will be made purely on Merit, based on the marks obtained in the AIAPGET 2022 (Unani) together with the post-BUMS Experience Marks that will be calculated as below –

1. Maximum marks for AIAPGET 2022 (Unani) 90 marks [ Computed ]

2. Maximum marks for post – BUMS Experience 10 marks

3. Total: 100 marks

Their AIAPGET 2022(Unani) Rank will be considered if the calculated marks are equal.

Allotment of seats –

The Selection Committee will allot seats to the Colleges and Branches of study based on the Merit and following 200 points roster depending upon the seat matrices provided by the affiliating University and subject to the availability of seats at the time of the individual’s turn. If candidates of a particular community are not available in the merit list, the next turn will be considered until all seats are filled based on the 200 points roster.

Branch once opted and allotted to the candidate at the time of Counseling, is final and cannot be changed subsequently under any circumstances for that particular Phase of Counseling.

If any vacancy arises in Phase I, the seats will be filled in Phase II as per the Rank in the merit list and communal reservation. Candidates who were absent in Phase I or who have not joined the allotted course in Phase I will not be permitted to attend Phase II.

The candidates cannot claim the seat available during Phase I, during their turn, in subsequent phases. Candidates allotted seats in special categories are not eligible for general Counseling.

Any remaining unfilled seats for want of an adequate number of eligible candidates belonging to SCA communities shall be filled by candidates belonging to SC community other than Arunthathiyars as per Merit and vice versa (GO Ms. No. 55 P&AR Dept. dt: 08- 04- 2010).

Any remaining reserved seats in the ST quota for want of an adequate number of eligible candidates belonging to the ST community shall be allotted to candidates belonging to the SC community as per Merit (GO (Ms) No.77 H&FW Dept. MCA-1 dt: 24-02-2011).

The annual fee is payable –

1. Tuition Fee -- Rs.5000 (First-year fees paid during Counseling will be adjusted)

2. Special Fee-- Rs.1585 (Has to be paid in College.) (Inclusive of Security Deposit, Library fee, etc.)

Every student has to pay for sports and welfare funds every year. The fee prescribed is subject to revision from time to time. The examination fee will be collected at the rate prescribed by the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University occasionally.
