Delhi University nod to DM Paediatric nephrology, medical genetics at Lady Hardinge Medical College, MAMC
New Delhi: In a significant development, the Delhi University (DU) has approved the introduction of new super-specialty courses in its affiliated medical colleges during the 1026th Academic Council meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh.
According to CSR Journal report, as part of the decision, Lady Hardinge Medical College has been permitted to start a DM course in Paediatric Nephrology, while Maulana Azad Medical College has received approval for a DM course in Medical Genetics.
Each of these courses will accommodate two students annually, contributing to the advancement of super-speciality education in affiliated medical institutions. These additions are expected to boost super-speciality training opportunities within Delhi University’s medical institutions.

Apart from this, the Academic Council also discussed steps to improve research standards across departments, which could indirectly benefit medical faculty and researchers, reports CSR Journal.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that altogether 616 super specialty seats have been added in the academic year 2025-26, taking the total DM and MCh seats to 4689 from previous year's 4073 seats, according to the National Medical Commission (NMC).
Releasing the tentative seat matrix for super specialty courses, the Medical Assessment & Rating Board (MARB) of apex medical commission shared a detailed list of seats available as of April 2, 2026, in various DM and M.Ch courses across medical colleges and institutions in the country. These include all seats that were approved on or before April 1, 2026, under the NMC’s purview.
As per the data, a total of 4,073 PG super specialty seats were available during the academic year 2024-25. With the addition of 616 seats, the total number has increased to 4,689 seats for the academic year 2025-26.
