Osmania hospital Surgery medico found dead

Hyderabad: In an unfortunate incident, a first-year postgraduate in the Department of General Surgery at Osmania General Hospital, Hyderabad, was found dead in his hostel room on the campus.

Telangana Today reported that the medico allegedly committed suicide, with his death being linked to mental health-related fatigue.

His sudden demise has sent shockwaves through the medical fraternity in Telangana, with colleagues describing him as a young and dedicated doctor with a promising future who was committed to serving patients with compassion and sincerity.

Expressing profound grief over his untimely death, the Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA) stated that his loss is not only a personal tragedy for his family and friends but also a significant loss to the entire healthcare community.

"We extend our deepest sympathies to his family, loved ones, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time. We pray that they find strength and solace to endure this irreparable loss," said the association in a press release. 

Highlighting the urgent need to prioritise mental health and emotional well-being among medical professionals, the association said, "Doctors, especially postgraduate trainees, often face intense emotional stress, long hours, and high expectations, which can silently take a toll on their mental health."

HRDA Telangana strongly emphasised the importance of promoting awareness about mental health among doctors, encouraging open conversations without fear of stigma, ensuring timely access to professional psychological support and counselling, and building a culture where seeking help is seen as a sign of strength, not weakness.

"It is crucial that mental health is given equal importance as physical health within the medical community. Early recognition, support, and intervention can make a significant difference and help prevent such tragedies. HRDA Telangana stands in solidarity with the medical fraternity and remains committed to advocating for mental health awareness, support systems, and the overall well-being of doctors," the press release read.
