Rs 2 crore extortion case: Nurse accuses doctor of sexually assaulting over 100 women

Barmer: A nurse arrested in connection with an alleged Rs 2 crore extortion case in Rajasthan’s Barmer district has accused the 65-year-old doctor who filed the complaint against her of sexually assaulting more than 100 women over several years. 

According to reports, the allegations were made in a video message recorded before she was produced before a Barmer court on Friday. The nurse described the doctor as a “serial rapist” and alleged that he sexually exploited women who visited his private hospital as patients.

She also claimed that some victims had approached the police in the past, but their complaints were allegedly suppressed through monetary settlements.

The nurse further alleged that two hospital employees assisted the doctor in bringing women to him. She also claimed that the extortion case registered against her was fabricated in retaliation for raising allegations against the doctor.  

However, police have not confirmed any of these allegations, and there is currently no official evidence indicating that the claims have been verified.

The criminal case began after the doctor filed a complaint alleging that the nurse had been employed at his private hospital since December 2016, primarily on night shifts.

According to the complaint, the nurse entered his private room on multiple occasions under the pretext of preparing tea. During one such visit, she allegedly copied personal photographs from his mobile phone without his knowledge.

The doctor alleged that she later used those photographs to blackmail him, threatening to circulate them on social media, implicate him in a false rape case, and arrange for his murder unless he paid her money.

Fearing damage to his personal reputation and the image of his hospital, the doctor claimed he continued making payments over several years.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that a doctor at a private hospital in Rajasthan’s Barmer district has alleged that a nurse blackmailed him and extorted nearly Rs 2 crore over several years by threatening to circulate his private photographs and videos. Acting on the complaint, police arrested the accused nurse and launched an investigation into the matter.

The doctor also alleged that the accused forced him to sign blank cheques and blank stamp papers, which she allegedly kept in a bank locker. Investigators are examining financial records and banking transactions to verify these claims.

The doctor further alleged that the nurse kept him under continuous surveillance by monitoring CCTV cameras installed in the hospital. He also claimed she provided him with a separate mobile phone and SIM card, insisting that it remain switched on at all times so she could track his location.

Police said digital evidence, including emails, messages, and data recovered from the accused's mobile phone, is being examined as part of the investigation.

Following her arrest, the accused was produced before a court, which remanded her to judicial custody. According to Barmer City Kotwali police, the accused has not been cooperating during questioning and has repeatedly denied the extortion allegations while allegedly attempting to mislead investigators.

Investigators also found that the accused had contested the 2020 Barmer Panchayat Samiti election as a ward candidate on a political party ticket, losing by just 58 votes. Police further said she has been living separately from her husband for the past three years and had earlier filed a dowry harassment and assault case against him. The accused completed her nursing course in 2010 and joined the doctor's private hospital in 2016, reports India Today.

The case now involves two parallel lines of investigation. Police are examining the doctor's allegations of extortion, criminal intimidation, and blackmail, while the nurse's public allegations of repeated sexual assault against the doctor have also drawn attention.

At present, none of the nurse's allegations against the doctor has been officially verified.
