Telangana doctors allege unequal appointments for 1,623 Civil Assistant Surgeon posts

The aggrieved candidates have urged the Telangana government to ensure a uniform recruitment process across all specialities and safeguard the seniority of every selected candidate. 

The doctors said a staggered recruitment process would provide an extra advantage to the first batch in respect of service seniority, promotions and future career progression, which is not just for the succeeding groups. They demanded that the government must ensure that all selected candidates received their appointment letters at the same time, while maintaining the seniority of candidates from the remaining departments. 

This step is crucial to ensure that any particular group or department does not receive any undue advantage in their service life due to delay in the administrative process.

Sharing his views, one of the doctors stated, “The recent TVVP notification was issued as a single recruitment, but its execution is clearly unequal and unjust. Departments like Gynaecology, Pediatrics, and Anaesthesia have already completed verification, received selection lists, and are proceeding with web options. Meanwhile, Surgery, Medicine, Orthopaedics, and Radiology candidates are still waiting for selection lists even after verification, and several departments have not even reached basic stages.”

“This is not a small delay — it directly affects seniority, promotions, and future career growth. Those joining earlier from the same notification will permanently gain an unfair advantage, while others are pushed behind despite equal merit. If recruitment is from one notification, the process must be uniform and simultaneous. Otherwise, this creates long-term injustice within the system,” he further added.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the government had been urged by the Telangana Government Doctors Association to immediately appoint an interim in-charge commissioner for the Directorate of Secondary Health Care (DSHC) to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted functioning of the department. The appeal came ahead of the retirement of the current DSHC commissioner, formerly known as TVVP, scheduled for May 31.
