Delhi: Dental Council of India (DCI) has directed all the dental colleges to conduct Anti-Ragging Orientation Program in Dental Colleges.

It has come to the notice of the DCI that many dental colleges are conducting an Anti-Ragging Orientation Program in the year 2023 without inviting DCI members; however, it was clearly directed in DCI’s Circular dated 21.04.2023 to conduct the said program in the presence of a DCI member.

All the dental colleges are again directed to immediately conduct Anti-Ragging Orientation Program, 2023, strictly in compliance with DCI’s Circular under reference, either by inviting a DCI member of their State or from a neighboring State (only in case where the member in their State is not available due to any reason).

The name of the DCI member shall be confirmed from the DCI Website on the day of the Anti-Orientation program, and in case of any doubt, the same shall be confirmed from the DCI Office. All the stakeholders’ viz., students of the fresh batch and all previous batches, hostel wardens, parents, teaching & non-teaching staff, district administration including police, etc., shall be present in the Anti-Orientation program.

The dental college will have to immediately furnish the following documents to the DCI office after the conduction of the said program –

1. Report of the Anti-Ragging Orientation Program

2. Name of the DCI Member attended the said program

3. List of participants in the said program

4. Photographs of the said program

Any deviation from the said guidelines will lead to appropriate action by DCI, as per Rules and Regulations, and no further circular will be issued by DCI in this regard.

The Dental Council of India has been constituted by an Act of Parliament to regulate the profession of dentistry and maintain the highest standards of dental education in the country. It is the statutory and bounden duty of the DCI to take such steps which are required to be taken to maintain the highest standards of dental education in the country.
