NBE to hold Foreign Dental Screening Test on 30th April, Check out schedule, exam scheme, test day procedure, details

Delhi: National Board of Examinations (NBE) has released the information bulletin for Foreign Dental Screening Test (FDST) 2022 (MDS Degree and PG Diploma).

Detailed schedule –

1. Issuance of the Admit Card - 24th April 2023 (download at https://nbe.edu.in)

2. Date of Examination - 30th April 2023 (8 AM to 6 PM)

3. Declaration of the Result - By 30th May 2023 (websites https:// natboard.edu.in and https://nbe.edu.in)

The Foreign Dental Screening Test for Indian Citizens/OCI possessing MDS Degree and PG Diploma dental qualifications awarded by dental institutions outside India will be held as per the schedule detailed under Important Dates and Scheme of Examination.

Candidates should read the information bulletin carefully for the scheme and pattern of examination. Queries about any issues will only be entertained if the requested information is not given in the bulletin. No Queries from the Guardians/ Parents will be entertained on the telephone about the eligibility and disclosure of the results.

The appearance in the FDST does not confer any automatic rights to secure provisional or permanent registration with the Dental Council of India or any State Dental Council. Candidates found ineligible at any stage of FDST will not be permitted to appear in the examination. In the unlikely event of any ineligible candidate appearing and/or passing the FDST, the results/candidature of such candidate shall be cancelled and/or is deemed to be cancelled, even if the result has been declared or Pass Certificate has been issued.

Candidates’ eligibility is purely provisional & is subjected to the fulfilment of eligibility criteria prescribed by the Dental Council of India. Instructions in the information bulletin are liable to change based on decisions taken by the NBEMS/DCI from time to time.

NBEMS reserves its absolute rights to alter the examination schedule, pattern, policy and guidelines at any time. The candidate will have no right to claim/derive any right from the past or current schedule, policy and guidelines of NBEMS.

NBEMS reserves its absolute right to alter, amend, modify or apply any or some of the instructions/ guidelines in this information bulletin. In case of any ambiguity in the interpretation of any of the instructions/ terms/ rules/criteria regarding the determination of eligibility/conduct of examinations/ registration of candidates/ information contained herein, the interpretation of the NBEMS shall be final and binding.

The request will not be entertained for a change in date/centre of examination under any circumstances. FDST will be conducted by NBEMS at Test Centre(s) in Delhi. Candidates need to familiarize themselves with the route and location of the exam centre to be indicated in admit cards.  The candidates will have to make their arrangements for travel/ boarding etc.

The examination test centre staff on duty is authorized to verify the identity of candidates and may take steps to verify and record the identity of candidates. Candidates are required to extend requisite cooperation.

A demo test will be available for candidates to familiarize themselves with the Computer Based Test format at the website https://nbe.edu.in Candidates can access the Demo test from 20th April 2023 onwards.

Scheme of FDST - MDS Degree/PG Diploma –

1. As per Principal Dental Council of India Screening Test Regulations, 2009, the exam consists of two question papers, comprising of 100 and 150 multiple choices, single correct response questions in English language only.

2. The examination will be a multiple-choice question delivered as a Computer Based Test.

3. FDST has divided into two question papers of 100 and 150 questions with time allocation of 120 minutes and 180 minutes, respectively.

4. Negative Marking: There will be no negative marking

5. Each Question carries one mark.

6. There will be no grace marks. The candidate has to score 50% in each paper individually to qualify for appearing in the viva voce examination.

7. MDS/PG Diploma -Viva Voce Examination: 50 Marks. The candidate has to score 50% in the Viva-voce examination separately.

8. The Foreign Dental Screening Test standard for MDS Degree/PG Diploma holders would be at par with the standard prescribed for Indian Universities.

9. Examiners for Viva-Voce Examination for MDS/PG Diploma: There will be two examiners for Viva-Voce, out of whom, one internal from the examining university and one external from any other university that awards recognized Undergraduate and Postgraduate Dental qualification.

10. There are no restrictions on the number of attempts a candidate can make.

Admit Card -

1. Admit cards shall be issued on 24th April 2023 onwards.

2. Candidates will be informed through SMS/Email alerts and website notices regarding the availability of the admit Card on the NBEMS website. Admit cards will not be sent to the candidates by Post/ Email.

3. Candidates must download their admit Card from the NBEMS website and affix their latest passport-size photograph firmly in the space provided on the admit Card. The details related to the Photograph details are enclosed in the notice below.

Test Day Procedures –

1. NBEMS will conduct the social distanced - Computer Based Test (SD-CBT) in a safe and secure environment using touch-free processes that maintain social distancing norms wherever needed. NBEMS reserves its right to review the test day processes of conduct of CBT in the wake of changing scenario of the COVID-19 pandemic.

2. Candidates must report at the ‘Reporting Counter’ of the test venue at the time indicated in their admit cards. The reporting counter will close 30 minutes before the test starts time. This will allow time for security checks, identity verification and checking in for examination.

3. Candidates reporting late or beyond the prescribed time shall not be allowed to appear in the exam under any circumstances. NBEMS shall not be responsible for any delayed arrival of the candidate in reaching the centre for any reason.

4. The admit Card will indicate the exact address and location of the test centres. Candidates must familiarize themselves with the test centre locations at least one day before the examination day and ensure they report for the exam at per scheduled time only.

5. The candidates who have been issued admit cards will be allowed entry inside the examination centre premises subject to fulfilment of documentary requirements.

6. Friends or relatives accompanying the candidates will not be allowed entry into the examination centre premises under any circumstances and will not be allowed to contact the candidate while the examination process is ongoing.

7. The candidate will flash the admit Card and ID proof for verification to the exam functionary standing across the table with a barcode/QR code reader. They will be informed about the assigned lab number. At no time will the exam functionary touch any document of the candidate.

8. All candidates will be checked at the entry point for fever with the thermo guns. If any candidate is observed to have above normal temperature or display any symptoms of COVID-19 infection, they will be allowed to take the examination in a separate isolation lab.

9. Identity checks will be made upon arrival at the test centre to ensure no unauthorized candidates appear for the exam.

10. Candidates without valid ID proof shall not be allowed to enter the examination premises.

11. Finger Biometrics of candidates shall be captured at the time of registration for the test at the test venue. Photographs of the candidates shall also be captured on the exam day at the centre.

12. After the capture of biometrics and Photograph, candidates will be escorted to the designated computer terminal at the test centre, ensuring social distancing, and an Invigilator will assist the candidate in the check-in process of the test.

13. Candidates must keep their admit Card and photo identification with them at all times during the examination.

14. Manual Attendance will be captured on physical attendance sheets.

The candidates need to bring the following documents to the test centre –

1. Printed copy of Barcoded/QR Coded Admit card with their Photograph pasted on it

2. Any one of the below mentioned Govt issued photo IDs** (must be original and valid/non-expired) - PAN Card/Driving License/Voter ID/Passport/Aadhaar Card (with Photograph)

NBE has further notified that if any candidate reports to the test centre with e-Aadhaar Card with an Aadhaar number printed as proof of identity, the eAadhaar Card should be a good quality colour printout with a visible Photograph. The Photograph should not have kinks, scratches and stains and should match the candidate presenting the e-Aadhaar Card. The decision of NBEMS in this regard shall be final”.

Security at the Test Centre –

Candidates will not be allowed to take the following items beyond the security checkpoint on examination premises under any circumstances –

1. Any stationery item like textual material (printed or written), notes, Plastic Pouch, Calculator, Pen, Writing Pad, Pen Drives, Eraser, etc.

2. Any electronic device like Mobile Phone, Bluetooth, Earphones, Microphone, Pager, wrist watch/Health Band, Calculator, Electronic Pen/ Scanner etc.

3. All ornaments like bracelets, rings, Earrings, Nose-pin, Chain/ Necklace, Pendants, necklaces with pendants, Badges, Brooch etc.

4. Other items like Wallet, Goggles, Handbags, Belt, Cap etc.

5. Any eatable item opened or packed, soft drinks etc.

6. Any other item that could be used for unfair means, for hiding communication devices like wireless/Bluetooth, spy cameras, etc.

Candidates will be permitted to carry certain items with them to the examination lab –

1. Face Mask

2. Exam-related documents (Admit card, ID Card etc.)

Results –

1. Result – (Pass/Fail) for eligible candidates will be displayed on the NBEMS website.

2. The candidates will be declared as having passed only if they score 50% in each paper individually to qualify for appearing in the viva-voce examination.

3. Viva-Voce examination consists of 50 marks. The candidate has to score 50% in the viva-voce examination, i.e. 25 / 50.

4. The scheme for delivering an authenticated copy of the result will be indicated on the website at the time of declaration.

5. There will be no re-evaluation or rechecking, or re-totalling. Requests for re-evaluation/re-totalling shall not be entertained.
