Karnataka: Through a recent notice, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has informed about the extension to the document verification window for NEET MDS candidates.

Earlier, the counselling body had asked all the eligible candidates to appear for document verification keeping in view of the lowering of NEET MDS 2021 percentile for this academic year's admissions.

Karnataka Examinations Authority has already conducted the document verification for PGET 2021- Dental two times in KEA premises. Registered candidates who have not attended / not completed the document verification due to various reasons, can attend the document verification with all the necessary original documents on 23.11.2021 between 11.00 am to 1.00 pm in KEA premises, 18°" Cross, Sampige Road, Malleshwaram, Bangalore, stated the notification.

This is the Final chance and no further extension will be given for document verification, the KEA said.

Medical Dialogues had recently reported that the NEET MDS 2021 qualifying cut off has been lowered by 23.029 percentile for each category.

The qualifying percentile for the NEET MDS 2021 has been lowered from 50 to 26.971 for the general category bringing the score from 259 to 185 marks. For the SC/ST/OBC candidates, the qualifying percentile has been reduced from 40 to 16.971, hence the score goes down from 227 to 152; whereas for PwD (Persons with disabilities) category, the revised cut-off percentile is 21.971 down from 45, the score hence lowered from 243 to 170 marks.

Eligibility Criteria and original documents to be produced for verification are detailed below.

The candidates who complete the verification process will become eligible for admission to PG Dental Courses.

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Mere registration does not entitle a candidate to allotment of seat. He / She must fulfill the conditions of eligibility by uploading the required documents.

The eligibility of candidates for admission shall be regulated by Karnataka Conduct of Entrance Test for Selection and Admission to Post Graduate Medical and Dental Degree and Diploma Courses Rules 2006 as amended from time to time for Government seats and such other directions issued by Government of Karnataka / Director Medical Education, Karnataka / PG Entrance Test Committee as shown below.

(i) Candidate should have scored more than or equal to the prescribed minimum score in NEET- PG 2021 / NEET MDS 2021.

(ii) Candidate should have completed his/her MBBS/BDS courses from recognized institute by MCI/DCI respectively.

(iii)He/ She has completed or is completing 'Compulsory Rotating Internship' on or before 31st March 2021.

(iv)For In-service candidates the age limit is 48 years as on 31st March 2021.

(v) Please note that SC / ST / OBC / Linguistic minority eligibility criteria are applicable to as per State Government policy only. However, if any OBC candidate of Karnataka has not claimed OBC in NEET can claim respective category in NEET PG -2021 in KEA.

(vi)Any candidate, who is already holding a PG Degree in any clinical specialty, shall not be eligible for admission to any Post Graduate Degree or Diploma Course.

Any candidate who has obtained his / her undergraduate medical / dental qualifications from medical / dental Colleges outside India should have qualified in the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE - Screening Test) which is conducted by National Board of Examinations / DCI (Document mandatorily to be produced). Further, they should have been registered with MCI / DCI and should have completed their internship or likely to complete their internship on or before 31-03-2021.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS

Foreign national's qualification should be duly registered with appropriate registering authority in his / her own country where from he / she has obtained his / her basic medical graduate qualification, and is duly recognized by the corresponding Medical Council or concerned authority. Further, should obtain temporary registration certificate for the duration of the PG course from MCI / DCI.

Those who register with KEA through online will be eligible for uploading of documents. The results / ranks published by National Board of Examination (NBE), New Delhi will be taken into consideration for preparation of list.

ELIGIBILITY for Government seats (G)seats:

(a) A candidate must be a citizen of India; and

(b) have studied and passed MBBS/BDS in a recognized Medical /Dental institution in the state of Karnataka; or

(c) have studied and passed MBBS/BDS in recognized Medical / Dental institutions located in India and has studied for a minimum period of ten academic years commencing from 1st standard to 12th standard and must have appeared and passed either SSLC or 10th standard or 2nd PUC or 12th standard equivalent examination from the Karnataka State are eligible."

In case of the candidate who has taken more than one year to pass a class or standard, the years of academic study is counted as one year only

Note: Children for the purpose of the rule means Natural born son / daughter and not adopted son/daughter and not grandson / granddaughter.

For the purpose of document uploading / verification and eligibility the following clauses shall be used.

A candidate who is citizen of India; and has studied and passed MBBS/BDS in a recognized Medical/Dental institution in the state of Karnataka. (Documents to be produced)

a- Clause

A candidate who has studied and passed in one or more Government or Government recognized, educational institutions located in the State of Karnataka for a minimum period of TEN academic years as on the 31st March 2021, commencing from 1st standard to 12th and must have appeared and passed either SSLC/10th standard or 2nd PUC/12th standard examination from Karnataka State and passed MBBS / BDS from Karnataka. (Documents to be produced)

b- Clause

A candidate who has studied for a minimum period of ten academic years commencing from 1st standard to 12th standard and must have appeared and passed either SSLC / 10th standard or 2nd PUC / 12th standard equivalent examination from the Karnataka State and passed MBBS / BDS from outside the State of Karnataka (Documents to be produced)

c-Clause

Provided that the explanation mentioned above shall not be applicable in following cases:

Son or daughter of serving employee, belonging to All India Service of Karnataka cadre, who has served or is serving outside the State of Karnataka during the period corresponding to candidate's study outside the State from 1st standard to 12th Standard examination can be added to make up the ten years of study within Karnataka as required under clause b or c (Documents to be produced)

d- Clause

Son or daughter of an employee of the Union Government or employee of Union or Karnataka State Government undertaking or Joint Sector undertaking where such employee:

1. had declared to the employer at the time of joining service any place in Karnataka to be his home town; and

2. had studied in any Government or Government recognized educational institution or institutions located in Karnataka for a minimum period of 10 years; and was or is liable to be transferred anywhere in India as per the terms and conditions of his employment. Further, the candidate must have passed the Qualifying Examination from a University or Board or any other institution located anywhere in India. (Documents to be produced)

e- Clause

The Children of Members of Parliament elected from Karnataka to the extent of the period being a Member of Parliament during the period of the child's study in New Delhi from the first standard to the qualifying examination during his tenure as Member of Parliament. (Documents to be produced)

f- Clause

Son or daughter of serving Defense personnel or ex- servicemen from Karnataka who at the time of joining the Defense Service had declared his/her hometown a place in the State of Karnataka. If he is a serving defense personnel proof of such domicile shall be produced by obtaining from the AG's branch (Army HQs) respective branch of integrated HQ of MoD for officers and respective Record officers for JCOs /OR provided that in case of ex-servicemen who at the time of joining the Defense Service had declared his/her hometown a place in the State of Karnataka, proof of such domicile shall be obtained from the Deputy Director, Department of Sainik Welfare & Resettlement. Further in each of the above two circumstances, the candidate must have passed the Qualifying Examination from a University or Board or any other institution located anywhere in India. g- Clause

A candidate who is Citizen of India and has studied and passed MBBS / BDS in a recognised Medical Dental Institution outside the state of Karnataka. (Documents to be produced)

y-Clause

A candidate who is an OCI or PIO or NRI or Foreign Nationals and has studied and passed MBBS / BDS in a recognised Medical / Dental Institution. (Documents to be produced)

z-Clause

Eligibility for Private seats

(GMP, OPN & MK, MA, ME, MU, MC, MM seats):

A. GMP

A candidate who fulfills the eligibility as per criteria clause b/c.

B. OPN

A candidate who is citizen of India; and have studied and passed MBBS / BDS in a recognized Medical / Dental institution.

C. For Religious Minority:

i. Christian Minority of Karnataka* & Non-Karnataka.

ii. Muslim Minority of Karnataka* & Non- Karnataka.

*Christian and Muslim minority candidates of clause b/c are considered as Karnataka Religious minority candidate.

** Karnataka Religious minority candidates will be considered first; then, non-Karnataka religious minority candidates if any, will be considered later.

D. Linguistic Minority (MA, ME, MK, MU):

i) Linguistic Minority Reservation is applicable to persons belonging to linguistic minority of the Karnataka state whose mother tongue is Tamil or Telugu or Kodava or Tulu and

ii) A candidate who has studied and passed in one or more Government or Government recognized, educational institutions located in the State of Karnataka for a minimum period of TEN academic years as on the 31st March 2021, commencing from 1st standard to 12th and must have appeared and passed either SSLC/10th standard or 2nd PUC/12th standard examination from Karnataka State.

E. St. John's Medical college, Bangalore:

Category–1.

Roman Catholic religious nuns & priests with SJMC approved two year rural service.

Category–2.

SJMC Alumni with SJMC approved two year rural service.

Category–3.

Roman Catholic Christian.

Category-4.

General Open Merit

ELIGIBILITY for NRI seats(N):

i. Has obtained MBBS or BDS degree in a Medical or Dental in recognized institutions which should be approved by MCI / DCI.

ii. All NRI / NRI Wards / PIO / OCI candidates and Foreign Nationals.

iii. Children of Non-resident Indian or their Wards. (As per Hon'ble High Court in WP Nos.17999-18002/2017)

iv. As per the definition defined in The Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Determination of Fee) Act, 2006 read with the Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Determination of Fee) (Amendment) Act, 2017 and the Income Tax Act 1961 Section 115 C (e) & 6, i.e., " Non Resident Indian" means an individual resident outside India who is a citizen of India or is a Person of Indian Origin and includes Persons of Indian Origin and Overseas Citizens of India.

ELIGIBILITY for Other seats (Q):

Has studied MBBS or BDS degree in Medical or Dental colleges affiliated to any University established by law in India recognized by Medical Council of India or Dental Council of India and Government of India. All the candidates who have qualified in NEET PG 2021are eligible except NRI / PIO / OCI and Foreign Nationals.
