DME Telangana Issues Instructions for FMG Interns, details
Telangana: The Director of Medical Education (DME Telangana) has issued instructions for the Foreign Medical Graduates interns.
As per the notice, all Foreign Medical Graduates are required to undergo an Internship at par with Indian Medical Graduates if they desire to seek permanent registration to practice medicine in India. All the students, unless otherwise notified, will have to undergo CRMI in part with Indian Medical Graduates after national medical exist step I.
The students required to complete an internship period will have to complete it only at Medical Colleges or institutions approved for providing CRMI to Indian Medical Graduates.
Following are the colleges where Foreign Medical Graduates can be posted -
1. Posted first in colleges that have been newly opened and have yet to be recognized.
2. Posted to different medical colleges or institutions having counselling or seat allocation process based on merit.
DME has further stated that medical colleges will be allowed up to 7.5% of their permanent quota of Internees by Foreign Medical Graduates. All the Internships shall be completed within 2 years of the final MBBS or Foreign Medical Graduates examinations (FMGE) or NExT Step 1 examination, whichever is in force.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) issued a circular on 4th March, 2022, releasing the guideline for registering Foreign Medical Graduates for their internship in medical colleges & Compulsory Rotatory Medical Internship Regulations, 2021.
The Directorate of Medical Education is an administrative body of Andhra Pradesh State, India. It overlooks the Medical Education in Andhra Pradesh through Medical Colleges. It is located in Koti, Hyderabad. It is headed by the Director of Medical Education, who oversees the functioning of Principals of Medical and Nursing Colleges, Superintendents of General and Speciality Hospitals, and Chief Accounts Officers. He is assisted by an Additional Director, Joint Directors and Assistant Directors, and Chief Information Officer.
