New Delhi: In an attempt to further escalate the demands for postponing NEET PG 2022, the aspirants of the postgraduate medical entrance examination are all set to hold a peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar tomorrow i.e. May 8, 2022.

The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has also supported the plan for protest and has urged all the doctors to support the junior doctors and arrive at Jantar Mantar between 3 PM to 4 PM.

"Mask is must. Wear apron," mentioned the Association, as it requested the doctors to take part in the silent and non-violent protest.

Speaking to the Medical Dialogues regarding the issue, Dr. Rohan Krishnan, the President of FAIMA said, "Tomorrow various medical associations are going to come together and protest with their demands for NEET PG postponement. I myself shall lead this silent protest, the main motto of which is to make the Government understand that there needs to be a proper gap between the NEET PG 2021 counselling and the NEET PG 2022 examination date. We have already taken permission from the Delhi Commissioner of Police and it will be a silent and non violent protest. We chose the date of protest as Sunday as we did not want to hamper the ongoing treatment of patients."

Referring to the earlier decision of the Ministry in postponing the exam with the belief that there should be sufficient gap between the counselling and the exam, he further added, "The point that was raised by the Ministry earlier still holds a lot of value and hence we request the Ministry to understand the concerns of the doctors and take note of the anxiety and mental trauma of the aspirants."

NEET PG 2022, which is the centralized common entrance test for admission to PG medical courses across India, was earlier scheduled on March 12. However, after the students cited that the exam date was clashing with NEET-PG 2021 counselling and approached the Supreme Court, the Health Ministry intervened and NBE postponed the exam to May 21.

The aspirants are again demanding postponement of the exam as they have pointed out that the counselling process will be completed in May, the same month the exam is scheduled to take place.
Medical Associations such as AIMSA and FAIMA have extended their support to the demands of the aspirants and AIMSA has already approached the Supreme Court in this regard.

Meanwhile, a fake news claiming that NEET PG 2022 has been deferred to July started circulating and following that the NBEMS also warned the candidates against "Spoofed Notices".
