Dr Vandana Das to be awarded MBBS degree posthumously by KUHS
Thrissur: The Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) has decided to award an MBBS degree posthumously to Dr Vandana Das who was tragically murdered while performing her duties as a house surgeon.
The decision was taken by the 75th Governing Council meeting chaired by KUHS vice-chancellor Mohanan Kunnummal including Dr Thomas Mathew Director of medical education who attended the meeting as well.
"Vandana had passed the final year MBBS exam but had to complete the mandatory programme as house surgeon," Mohanan Kunnummal told TOI.
An announcement will be made later about the awarding date.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported about a female house surgeon Dr Vandana Das who was brutally stabbed to death with scissors at a government hospital in Kerala's Kollam district allegedly by a prisoner who was brought to the facility for a medical examination by the Police.
