Medical Dialogues had been reporting about the escalating demands from the NEET UG 2022 aspirants seeking deferment of the exam by one month. Earlier around 10,000 aspirants had written to National Testing Agency (NTA) requesting to postpone the exam and allocate them with enough time for preparation. Writing to the agency, the aspirants had pointed out how the counselling for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test 2021 was incomplete and the scheduled date for NEET on July 17 is almost clashing with the dates for CUET & JEE Mains.

"Pursuing MBBS is a dream of lakhs of students and the emotions of their parents and teachers are connected therewith. But due to this declaration of premature dates, they are starting to give up on their dreams. Please allocate them an adequate amount of time so that they can prepare well for the exam," the students had mentioned in the letter.
Recently they also wrote to the Union Education Minister with the similar demands. The candidates had earlier used hashtags such as #postponeneetug2022 and #JusticeforNeetStudents for voicing their concerns regarding the present schedule of NEET UG 2022. In fact, referring to the short time gap for preparation, the candidates had started signing an online petition demanding to defer the exam to August. The petition, a copy of which was circulating on the social media platforms, had pointed out the situation of the aspirants who are facing immense mental stress and pressure because of NEET UG schedule in July. They also used the hashtag #MODIJIdeferNEETUG for directly approaching PM Modi with their demands for postponing the exam.
The parents of the aspirants supported the demands for postponement as the India Wide Parents Association wrote to the Prime Minister requesting him to postpone the exam by atleast 40-45 days.

"The main concern is the preparation time as the state counselling concluded few days ago and board exams are also going on so students are not getting proper time for preparation. The academic session for this batch will not start until February 2023 as per the recent notification," read the letter.

"Then why students are being forced to appear for exam when there will be no impact on their academic session. Several other entrance exams are also scheduled during that time so it will be very difficult for students as they will be travelling to other cities to appear for these exams," it added.

Although the demands for postponement had been escalating day by day, the authorities kept their silence on the matter. Amid all this, recently a fake Public Notice by NTA started doing rounds on the Internet claiming that the schedule for NEET UG 2022 has been changed from July 17 to September 4.

"The revised date for the conduct of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test [NEET(UG)] - 2022 is 4th September 2022, Sunday," read the notice.

Sharing the same on its Twitter page, PIB Fact Check clarified that the concerned notice is fake and it has not been issued by NTA.

When candidates are eagerly waiting for a positive response regarding their demands for postponement, such a clarification from the Government can only be read as a 'No' from the authorities regarding the prayers for postponing the exam.
