FMGE October 2026: Applications open, exam on October 31, check eligibility, fee, schedule, exam scheme

According to the schedule, the online application window for FMGE October 2026 opened on September 11, 2026, at 5:00 PM and will close on September 25, 2026, at 11:55 PM.

The examination is scheduled to be held on October 31, 2026, and the result is expected by November 30, 2026. Below is the detailed schedule-

SCHEDULE

INSTRUCTIONS TO FILL ONLINE FMGE APPLICATION FORM

NEW USER REGISTRATION- All candidates desirous of applying for FMGE October 2026 shall be required to create an online profile of themselves to generate a User ID and Password on the NBEMS official website.

APPLICANT LOGIN- This User ID and Password so created will allow the candidate to log in as an applicant for FMGE October 2026 and register an online application. The “Go To Application” link allows the applicant to continue the application submission immediately after user creation.

NAME OF CANDIDATE- Please mention your full name as in the Primary Medical Qualification Certificate. Name as entered by the candidate while creating his/her User ID shall be reflected in a non-editable format in his / her examination application form. No change in the name shall be permissible under any circumstances after submission of an application. The candidate shall be required to produce his/her Govt-issued ID proof bearing the same name at the test centre on the test day to seek entry. In case of Mismatch in name between admit card and Photo ID proof shown, entry to the test centre shall not be allowed. It is strongly advised not to submit an application with an ERROR in the candidate’s name, as it shall not be allowed to be edited after application submission. If the user has entered his/her name wrongly while registering the user, please create another user with the correct name.

GENDER AND DATE OF BIRTH- Indicate your gender and Day, Month & Year of your birth. Please enter the correct date of birth carefully while registering the user.

NATIONALITY- Please choose your nationality amongst the options given: Indian, Non-Resident Indian (NRI), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Foreign Nationals. Indian Citizens who are not NRIs should choose Indian. An Indian Citizen should choose Non- Resident Indian if he/she is an NRI. If you are a Foreign National but also an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), please choose OCI. As per Screening Test Regulations, an Indian Citizen/NRI or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) alone are eligible to apply for FMGE (Screening Test). Foreign Nationals (other than Nepalese) who are not an OCI are not eligible to apply for FMGE. If you are a citizen of any country other than India or Nepal and not an OCI, you are NOT eligible to apply for FMGE.

EMAIL ID- The email ID chosen by the applicant candidate shall be verified through a system-generated OTP for user creation. The same email ID can not be used for registration of any other user concurrently. Please note that all email correspondence with the applicant candidate shall be done at this email ID only. The email chosen by the applicant candidate shall be the primary means to communicate with the candidate for examination purposes. Information related to examinations shall be sent to this email ID. Candidates shall also be able to communicate with NBEMS through this registered email only. Correspondence received from any other email ID of the candidate shall not be entertained. Therefore, candidates are advised to choose the email ID carefully

MOBILE NO- Please provide a unique mobile number for receiving examination-related communications sent through SMS. Mobile number chosen by the candidate shall NOT be the primary means to communicate with the candidate for examination purposes.

The index page of FMGE October 2026 on the NBEMS website provides a quick link, “Already Registered? To log in”. The online application form for FMGE October 2026 can be accessed through this quick link after successful creation of User ID. The candidate can log in using his/her User ID and Password.

The application submission process can be completed either in a single sitting or in multiple sittings, as per the candidate's choice, during the application submission window. However, once an application is successfully completed & submitted, it shall be available for editing certain field only during the “edit window”.

Candidates are advised not to complete & submit their online application in haste so as to avoid any errors in providing information. Candidates have the option to make corrections in any information except name, nationality, test city, mobile number, Aadhaar and email ID during the edit window. Request for making any changes in date of birth, name, category, nationality or any other information provided in the application shall be summarily rejected.

FOLLOWING SEQUENCE SHALL BE OBSERVED WHILE FILLING THE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM

STEP 1- Fill the user registration form to generate User ID/Application ID and Password.

STEP 2- User ID and Password will be sent through SMS and Email.

STEP 3- Complete the application form and upload your Photograph, scanned signature, Thumb impression, & prescribed documents.

STEP 4- Choose your Test City and pay the examination fee

STEP 5- Agree to the declaration and submit the application.

STEP 6- Take a printout of the filled Application form with the Transaction ID printed on it and payment status mentioned as “S” (Successful) for records.

EXAMINATION FEE

Candidates will have to pay a total examination fee of Rs 4,650. The amount includes an examination fee of Rs 3,940.68 and 18% GST of Rs 709.32. Payment gateway charges, wherever applicable, will be additional.

The prescribed exam fee should be remitted through the payment gateway provided using a UPI / Credit Card or a Debit Card issued by banks in India, or other modes as may be made available and have been provided on the web page. Fee cannot be deposited through any mode other than the payment gateway available while submitting the online application form.

Fee shall neither be carried forward to a future date nor refunded under any circumstances. Any claim for refund, adjustment or carrying forward of Application fee will not be entertained.

Kindly ensure that the payment made for the examination fee is successful and confirmation of the same can be seen in the application form under payment status reflected as “S” (for successful). In case the status is shown as pending, the payment might be stuck with your bank and might be cleared at a later date. The application submission process is not completed till such time the status of payment is reflected as “S” in the application form. NBEMS shall not be responsible for rejection of your application due to delay in settlement of the payment by your bank to NBEMS.

Examination fees in respect of candidates who are absent or have been declared ineligible due to any reason shall be forfeited. Candidates are advised to read the screening test regulations and the information bulletin for FMGE October 2026 carefully and satisfy the terms and conditions for fulfilment of eligibility criteria before proceeding for payment of fees.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The candidate must meet/fulfil the following criteria-

1 He / She is a citizen of India or an Overseas Citizen of India.

2 The candidate should possess a primary medical qualification, which is confirmed by the Indian Embassy concerned, to be a recognised qualification for enrolment as a medical practitioner in the country in which the institution awarding the said qualification is situated.

3 The result of the final examination for the said primary medical qualification should have been declared on or before 31-08-2026.

4 Candidates must note that they must submit proof / documentary evidence that clearly establishes that the result of the final examination for such a primary medical qualification was declared on or before the cut-off date, i.e. 31-08-2026. The document submitted must confirm that the candidate has completed all required courses of the primary medical course with eligible results as per the requirements of the institution concerned.

5 If the proof / documentary evidence submitted by the candidate does not clearly establish that the result of the final examination of his primary medical qualification was declared on or before 31-08-2026 and/or does not clearly specify that the candidate has been declared pass/ qualified in the final examinations in all mandatory required courses, the candidature shall be cancelled and the candidate shall be declared as ineligible. 

As per Eligibility Requirement for Taking Admission in an Undergraduate Medical Course in a Foreign Medical Institution Regulation, 2002-

1 The candidate should have obtained ‘Eligibility Certificate’ from the National Medical Commission (or the erstwhile Medical Council of India). This requirement shall not be necessary in respect of Indian citizens or Overseas Citizens of India who have acquired the medical qualifications from foreign medical institutions before 15.03.2002 or have obtained admission in foreign medical institution either before 15.03.2002 or during 15.05.2013 to 03.01.2014 (both dates included).

2 In terms of notification published on 01.03.2018 in the Gazette of India, “Indian Citizens / Overseas Citizen of India intending to obtain primary medical qualification from any medical institution outside India, on or after May 2018, shall have to mandatorily qualify the ‘National-Eligibility-cum- Entrance Test for Admission to MBBS course’. The result of the ‘National- Eligibility-cumEntrance Test for Admission to MBBS course’ shall deem to be treated as the Eligibility Certificate for such persons, provided that such persons fulfils the Eligibility Criteria for admission to the MBBS course prescribed in the Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997.”

3 In terms of notification published on 14.03.2019 in the Gazette of India, “the result of NEET shall be valid for a period of Three (03) years from the date of declaration of result, entitling a candidate to pursue MBBS or equivalent medical course including pre-medical/language course, if any, followed by MBBS or equivalent medical course.”

4 Applicants who are applying for FMGE producing their NEET-UG result in lieu of the Eligibility Certificate in terms of aforesaid notifications are accordingly advised to ensure that they fulfil the Eligibility Criteria for admission to the MBBS course prescribed in the Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997. In an event an applicant qualifying FMGE is later found, at the time of seeking registration with a medical council, not to be fulfilling the Eligibility Criteria for admission to the MBBS course as prescribed in the Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997, his /her candidature and result for said FMGE shall deemed to be cancelled.

It is the sole responsibility of the candidate that he / she has fulfilled the stipulations/criteria prescribed in Graduate Medical Education Regulations (GMER), 1997 and Eligibility Requirement before taking admission in the undergraduate medical course in Foreign Medical Institution Regulations, 2002, enumerated herein below, but not limited to the following-

1 He/she fulfilled the age criterion prescribed for admission to the MBBS course in the above regulations at the time of joining the Primary Medical Qualification.

2 He/she fulfilled the eligibility criteria for admission to the MBBS course in India as prescribed in the Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 1997, i.e., minimum qualifying marks criteria in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, including relaxed criteria in case the candidate belongs to a reserved category (SC/ST/OBC) or a PwD.

3 He / She has a relevant caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC) from a competent authority issued at the time of his / her admission to a Primary Medical Qualification, in case he/she has claimed any relaxed criteria towards minimum qualifying marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.

Candidate seeking provisional or permanent registration in India shall not have to qualify the Screening Test if he/she holds an Undergraduate medical qualification from Australia / Canada / New Zealand / United Kingdom / United States of America and the holder thereof has also been awarded a Post Graduate medical qualification in Australia / Canada / New Zealand / United Kingdom / United States of America and has been recognised for enrolment as medical practitioner in that country.

SCHEME OF FMGE EXAMINATION

The examination consists of one paper, comprising 300 multiple-choice questions and administered using a computer network as per the prescribed scheme. Each question shall have 4 response options/distractors in English language only. Candidates are required to select the correct / best / most appropriate response / answer out of the 4 response options provided in each question

The paper shall be delivered in two parts to be taken in a single day, with each part comprising 150 questions to be attempted in 150+3** minutes. There shall be no negative marking.

A candidate shall be declared as having passed only if he/she obtains a minimum of 150 marks out of 300 in the examination. Results (Pass / Fail) for eligible candidates will be displayed on the NBEMS website. Marks obtained by a candidate in individual parts, i.e. Part I and Part II, shall not be published. There is no provision for re-totalling / re-evaluation/award of grace marks in FMGE.

The actual number of such time-restricted sections may vary based on the total number of questions in the question paper and operational feasibility in making such sections.

Candidates are given an option to mark any question, whether attempted or not, for review, which means that the candidate has been given an option to go through these questions in a section again before the allotted time for a section ends. Candidates may note that such questions which are marked for review shall be evaluated as per the marking scheme.

There are no restrictions on the number of attempts that can be availed by a candidate. However, FMGE being a qualifying examination, once a candidate qualifies the FMGE, he or she shall not be eligible to take the FMGE again. Any examination taken by a candidate in violation of this clause shall be treated as void and cancelled.
