Hyderabad Hospital files FIR against Senior Doctor over alleged fake MBBS Degree
Hyderabad: A Senior doctor belonging to a private hospital in Hyderabad has recently been booked for operating with a fake MBBS degree and two registration numbers.
The First-Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against the doctor by the management of the private hospital group, which has now removed him from practice as well.
Apart from this, the hospital group's management has also written to the National Medical Commission (NMC) and demanded clarity on how the doctor could apply for registration in two different states in India.
Meanwhile, replying to the complainant, the Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) has confirmed that the concerned doctor was not registered with TSMC.
Allegedly, the doctor pursued MBBS from a Chinese University and thereafter applied for registration in Telangana and Uttar Pradesh. Consequently, he invested money in small to mid-sized private hospitals and also practices at those hospitals.

As per the latest media report by the Times of India, the matter came to light when the doctor was told to produce his MBBS certificate for an inspection by the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO). Upon verifying the certificate with the website of erstwhile Medical Council of India (MCI), now NMC, the hospital found that a different IMR number popped up and the certificate format was different. After confronting the doctor, he allegedly produced another certificate.
Doubting that the MBBS degree of the doctor was fake, the hospital management approached Medipally police station and lodged an FIR. The FIR stated, "At the time of entering a partnership, Dr *** Reddy had informed that he had done MBBS general medicine and enrolled himself as a doctor with the Telangana State Medical Council. Believing his words, we entered into partnership business and also authorized him to operate bank accounts. He is the signing authority to run day to day activities. From the last few months there were complaints raised by duty doctors saying that the treatment given by him was inappropriate."
"Upon insisting to produce MBBS certificate for DMHO inspection, he provided a certificate bearing Reg no 68311. We verified the certificate on the Medical Council of India website it is popping up in a different IMR number IMR-14/1105 and the certificate format was different. When we raised concern he produced another certificate. That is when our doubts were clear that the MBBS degree is fake," it further read.
While the complainant hospital has removed the concerned doctor from practice, he continues to be on the Board of other hospitals, adds the daily.
