MBBS Medicos found Cheating with Surgical Bluetooth, Debarred from Writing Exams for Two years

Indore: After catching two final year MBBS students cheat in the exams with the aid of surgical bluetooth devices, the Unfair Means Committee of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) has debarred them from appearing in the exams for two years.

Apart from this, all the papers that the students had written have been cancelled by the Unfair Means Committee. 

Around 50 students, belonging to a detained MBBS batch, were writing their Third Prof (Part-II) exams at MGM Medical College back in February, when the flying squad of the University found those two medicos cheating in the exams with the help of micro size Bluetooth.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the incident took place in the MGM Medical College where the paper of General Medicine , Third Prof (Part) examination was being held. The examination centre had about 80 students from three different medical colleges namely MGM Medical College, Aurobindo Medical College, and Indus Medical College.

For conducting a surprise inspection, the flying squad of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) raided the examination centre when the students were writing their General Medicine Paper. Led by the Deputy registrar (exams and confidential) Rachana Thakur, the Squad also comprised of other members such as Dr Vivek Sathe and Dr Chetali Uike.

As per the Information received from the squad, those two students had installed the micro size Bluetooth devices surgically into their ears for the purpose of cheating.

When they searched a student on suspicion, they found a mobile phone inside his pocket. The mobile was connected to a Bluetooth device with an ongoing phone call. After inquiring about the matter, the squad came to know from the student that a Bluetooth device was connected to one of his ears. Although they tried to pull out the device, it did not came out easily.

While the squad confiscated the mobile phone, they noticed that another student was getting tensed and trying to get his shift right. After spotting his moves, the squad searched that student as well and after asking him to take off his shirt, they found an electronic device hidden inside his vest.

They discovered that the device was also connected to a Bluetooth device with a thin wire reaching up to his collar. In this case as well, the Bluetooth device had been installed inside the ear surgically. After checking the device, the squad members found a SIM card inside the device.

At that time, the Deputy registrar (exams and confidential) Rachana Thakur had informed that they had confiscated the equipment and registered cases of use of unfair means (UFM) in the exam. It was decided that those cases would be placed before the UFP Committee for take a call on the punishment.

Apart from this, the University had also decided to serve notices on the examination centre for negligence. The MGM Medical College, which was doubling up as an exam center, was found to be negligent in the matter as there was no male observer at the examination centre. Due to this, the male students could not be frisked and as a result two students were able to get inside the hall along with electronic devices. In fact, the University squad had also expressed their displeasure regarding the incident with the center superintendent.
