Institute offers MBBS, PG medical Seats to Low NEET Scorers for Rs 65 lakh to 1 Crore: Viral Ad slammed on social media

New Delhi: An advertisement offering MBBS and postgraduate medical seats to low NEET scorers has recently become viral and heavily slammed on social media.

The viral ad, run by a career guidance institute based in Nagpur, Maharashtra invited UG and PG medical aspirants to "take control" of their future and their career and "find the cheapest packages" for their medical journey.

For MBBS seats, the package rate is Rs 65 lakh, and for grabbing MD/MS seats, the starting package rates vary from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore. According to the advertisement, the PG medical aspirants will have to pay Rs 1 crore for MD Radiology, Rs 95 lakh for MD Dermatology, Rs 90 lakh for MD Paediatric, Rs 80 lakh for MD Pulmonology, Rs 85 lakh for MD Psychiatry, Rs 70 lakh for MD Anaesthesia, Rs 50 lakh for MD Pathology, Rs 90 lakh for MD Anatomy, Rs 80 lakh for MS General Surgery, Rs 90 lakh for MS Orthopaedics, Rs 95 lakh for MS Ob-Gyn, Rs 80 lakh for MS ENT, and Rs 80 lakh for MS Ophthalmology.

The institute has promised to provide various services to the medical aspirants including form filling and submission, expert admission assistance, special documents assistance, regular counselling updates, college visit assistance, monitoring of all rounds, and tracking of cancellation of seats.

Soon the advertisement on the front page of a newspaper became viral on Twitter and was heavily slammed by users. Sharing the ad on his Twitter handle, a doctor wrote, "Education for sale ! The state of education in our great country !"

Commenting on the ad, a Twitter user wrote, "The price is not the issue.The issue is what sort of knowledge or experience will these guys pass out with. I fear more for the state of medicine!"

"Education has been on sale for over a decade now. It’s just that the it’s being aggressively marketed now; thanks to investors money !!," wrote another user.

Criticising the practice, another user wrote, "Somehow this seems much worse than other degrees. Because human lives are at stake. I mean who cares if ones water purifier technician or graphic artist paid for their seat?"

Another user pointed out how medical education is cheaper abroad and mentioned, "Worst part is , more developed countries than India offer cheaper MBBS programs."
