Delhi: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has released a revised seat matrix for PGIMER, Chandigarh, for the INI-SS entrance examination for admission in DM/MCh & MD (Hosp. Administration) courses for the January 2024 session.

As per the notice issued, a total of 125 seats are vacant at PGIMER, Chandigarh, for the INI-SS January 2024 session. Earlier, it had 83 seats. Now seats 42 are added.

As per the prospectus issued earlier, a total of 854 seats are available for the INI SS January 2024 Session. Out of these 854 seats, 819 seats are for DM/MCh courses, and 35 seats are for Hospital administration.

The registration process has just got over on 11.10.2023. The online written test is scheduled for 28.10.2023. The course start date is 01.1.2024, and the last date for admission in the course is 28.02.2024. Last date for the fulfilment of eligibility for admission is 31.01.2024.

Validity of Category (OBC/EWS/SC/ST/PWBD) Certificate

Any category certificate will be considered valid only if it is in Hindi/English Language and has been issued prior to the last date of Online Registration of application (11.10.2023). Candidate applying under

OBC/EWS category must possess a valid OBC/EWS certificate issued by the competent authority for admission in Central Govt. Institution.

Category Certificate must be uploaded on or before the closing date of application.

OBC certificate

The date of issue of the certificate for OBC(NCL) candidates should not be earlier than 1 year from the last date of submission of Completion of Application,   which is 11.10.2023, i.e. should be issued between 10.10.2022 to 11.10.2023 (both dates inclusive)

EWS certificate

The EWS certificate must be valid for the financial year 2023-2024 and issued on or after 01.04.2023 & on or before the date of examination 11.10.2023 based on the income of the year 2022- 2023.

Eligibility –

1. The candidate must possess an MBBS or an equivalent degree (As per NMC)

2. Must possess a minimum experience of three years in a Govt. Hospital in the relevant field or five years in general practice. A certificate issued by the District Magistrate in support of the general practice claimed should be uploaded

3. Candidates belonging to UR/OBC/EWS/Sponsored must have obtained 55% in aggregate in all MBBS Professional Examinations. Candidates belonging to SC/ST must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in all MBBS professional

4. Must be registered with the Central /State Medical Registration Council

5. The candidates who have already done MD/MS or equivalent are not eligible for this course

Graduated from Foreign Universities: Indian National candidates who have graduated from foreign Universities must fill their NMC screening exam marks in percentage in the online form. Candidate must have obtained marks as mentioned above in FMGE exam conducted by NBE any other authority of Govt. of India, Delhi.

The course-wise eligibility criteria are enclosed in the notice below.

The candidates must have completed the requisite qualification, degree and experience by 31.01.2024. The candidates who are likely to complete their requisite qualification, degree and experience after 31.01.2024 will not be eligible to appear in this examination.

Age Relaxation –

FOR AIIMS New Delhi & Other AIIMS

The upper Age limit is 35 years as of 1st January 2024, i.e. Born on or after 01.01.1989

FOR PGIMER, Chandigarh

The upper Age limit is 45 years as of 1st January 2024, i.e. Born on or after 01.01.1979

FOR NIMHANS, Bengaluru

The upper Age limit is 37 years as of 1st January, 2024, i.e. Born on or after 01.01.1987

FOR SCTIMST, Thiruvananthapuram

The upper Age limit is 40 years as of 1st January 2024, i.e. Born on or after 01.01.1984

FOR JIPMER, Puducherry

No Upper Age Limit

Age Relaxation applicable at all INIs -

1. The upper age limit is relaxable for OBC Candidates by a maximum of 3 years.

2. The upper age limit is relaxable in the case of SC/ST candidates by a maximum of 5 years.

3. The upper age limit is relaxable for ex-servicemen and Commissioned Officers, including ECO and SSCO, who have rendered or released on satisfactory assignment with age relaxation by a maximum of 5 years.

4. The upper age limit is not applicable to sponsored candidates.

5. The persons with benchmark disabilities shall be given an upper age relaxation of five years for admission to DM/M.Ch. for PWD candidates as per the Rights of Persons with Disability Act, 2016.

6. At NIMHANS Bengaluru, the Upper age limit is 37 years as of 1st January 2024, i.e. Born on or after 01.01.1987, for all Category Candidates, i.e. for UR, OBC, EWS, SC, ST & PWBD.

No reservation is applicable in DM/M.Ch. Courses. The candidates must have completed the requisite qualification, degree and tenure by 31.01.2024. The candidates who are likely to complete their 3 years of requisite qualification, degree and tenure after 31.01.2024 will not be eligible to appear in this examination.

The courses will start from dates as mentioned in important dates at a glance. The last date for admission to the DM/M.Ch. & MD (Hospital Administration) course will be as per dates mentioned in important dates at a glance. In any circumstances, the last date for admission will not be extended after the dates as mentioned above. This includes candidates on the wait list who may be offered a seat if the selected candidates do not join.

Scheme of Examination -

The examination will be conducted on a stage performance evaluation basis as described below: -

Stage – I: Applicable to all participating Institute

Duration: 90 minutes

Number of Questions: 80 Questions

Total Marks: 80 Marks

Language: English

Type of Questions: Objective type of questions of Single Correct Choice.

Correct Answer: One Mark (+1)

Incorrect Answer: Minus one-third (-) 1/3

Unanswered / Marked for Review: 0

Syllabus: The question paper will consist of questions from the General/Basic component of the qualifying educational qualification and from sub- specialty/systems/component of the specialty/course for which the examination is being conducted.

Qualifying Criteria in Stage I: 50 percent (%)

Stage – II: Applicable to all AIIMS only

Total Marks: 20

1. Candidate must secure 50 percent (%) or more marks in Stage-I[as per the decision of the meeting of the 116th Academic Committee (item No.AC/116/10 dated 06.03.2018)].

2. Candidate must have applied in online registration for AIIMS seats in respective speciality/course.

3. The candidate must be eligible as per the eligibility criteria of AIIMS.

4. Out of the candidates who fulfil the above criteria, candidates- 3 (three) times the number of seats advertised for AIIMS 2 (two) times the total number of seats in AIIMS & other INIs, whichever is higher or as decided by the competent authority at the time of declaration of result will be called for departmental clinical/practical/lab-based assessment (carrying 20 marks) related to sub-speciality/systems/component of the speciality/course for which the candidate has applied in the respective department at AIIMS, New Delhi.

5. To qualify for AIIMS Seat allocation, a candidate must obtain 50 percent (%) or more marks in Stage-I & Stage-II combined.

6. In case a candidate gets marks more than 50 percent (%) in Stage-I, but less than 50 percent (%) marks in Stage I & II combined, he/she will not be treated as qualified for AIIMS Seats.

7. Candidates called for departmental assessment (Stage – II) and remain absent in Stage – II will not be treated as qualified for AIIMS Seats.

Preparation of Merit Lists -

Two lists of qualified candidates in order of merit will be declared based on performance in Stage – I & Stage – II examinations (as applicable) as described below: -

Common Merit List (CML) -

1. The candidate must have appeared in the test for Stage – I.

2. All qualified candidates in the Stage – I examination, as per the scheme of examination, will be assigned a rank and will be placed in the list in order of overall rank.

3. This merit list (CML) will be used for the allocation of seats in all INI except AIIMS as per the method of allocation described in the prospectus.

AIIMS Merit List (AML) -

1. This Merit List (AML) will be used for allocation of Seats in all AIIMS only

2. Candidate must have appeared & qualified in both examinations Stage – I & Stage – II as per the scheme of examination described above.

3. The list will be based on marks obtained in Stage- I & Stage – II combined (100 marks) for qualified candidates only.

4. All qualified candidates will be assigned a rank and will be placed in the list in order of overall rank.

Sponsored/Foreign National category candidates -

They will be placed in the respective merit list as per their performance and eligibility, as applicable to all other general candidates as described above, with respective category tags mentioned against their rank. Such candidates will be considered for Seats under the Sponsored/Foreign National category in order of merit. The seat advertised under Sponsored/Foreign National is strictly non-convertible/Interchangeable from the seat advertised under General Category or vice-versa.

It is mandatory to upload a valid Sponsored certificate in the Completion of Application on or before the date(s) mentioned in the Important Dates Section of Prospectus Part-A. Please note that candidates must have to submit an original sponsored certificate at the time of reporting/joining for the allocated postgraduate seat, failing which, their candidature will be cancelled.

Foreign Nationals/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) -

As per the decision dated February 03, 2023, passed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (Civil) 891 / 2021, the OCI candidates shall be considered Indian nationals.

Overseas Citizen of India candidates will be eligible ONLY for open category (Unreserved) seats for Indian Nationals, not for any Foreign National Seats.

The OCI candidates shall be considered for seat allocation under the Unreserved and Unreserved-PWBD categories, as applicable, at the time of seat allocation.

OCI candidates are not required to obtain NOC, however, they must upload the scanned copy of their OCI card on or before the date(s) mentioned in the Important Dates Section of Prospectus Part-A.

Candidates born before 04.03.2021 and who have secured the OCI Card Before 04.03.2021 Shall be considered INDIAN NATIONALS and will be eligible ONLY for open category (unreserved)seats for INDIAN NATIONALS. They will not be eligible for consideration for seats for Foreign Nationals.

OCI/PIO card holders who are not to be considered as India Nationals based on the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (Civil) 891 / 2021 dated February 03.2023 shall be considered as FOREIGN NATIONALS. They will not be eligible for consideration of seats for Indian Nationals.

Method of Resolving Ties -

According to age (Date of birth), the older candidate shall get preference over the younger one.
