UP NEET SS candidates face NOC delay, seek reporting deadline extension
Lucknow: Doctors from Uttar Pradesh who appeared for NEET SS 2026 and secured seats through counselling are facing difficulties in joining their allotted colleges due to delays in obtaining their No Objection Certificate (NOC). They are now demanding an extension of the reporting deadline.
As per the process, candidates must obtain an NOC from the Directorate General of Medical Education and Training, Uttar Pradesh (UPDGME) after receiving their allotment letter. However, officials have indicated that due to a backlog, the process may take 5–7 days.
Since the allotment was released on March 18 and the last date for reporting is March 25, many candidates are finding it difficult to complete document submission and travel to their allotted institutes on time. This delay could reportedly lead to loss of seats and forfeiture of around Rs 2 lakh for many candidates.
Highlighting the issue, a doctor recently shared a post on the social media platform X, including screenshots of candidates explaining their situation and seeking help.
One candidate said that UPDGME has not released relieving letters for candidates across the state for the past two days despite our continuous efforts.
Another candidate said, "The last date for reporting is March 25, and with the weekend in between, it is becoming practically impossible for candidates to obtain the NOC, collect documents and travel to allotted institutions in other states on time.
The doctor urged the government to take immediate action and extend the reporting deadline, stating that candidates should not suffer due to administrative delays beyond their control.
Medical Dialogues recently reported that the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), issued an urgent notice announcing the withdrawal of several super-speciality (SS) seats from the Round 1 seat matrix of the National Eligibility and Entrance Test-Super Speciality (NEET SS) Counselling for the academic year 2025.
