AIIMS Patna invites applications for post doctoral fellowship entrance 2026, check complete details

Patna: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna, has released the prospectus for the Post Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) Entrance Examination 2026, inviting applications for admission to various fellowship programmes.

The entrance examination is scheduled to be held on June 28, 2026, while the online application process has begun from May 30, 2026.

The institute is offering two-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship programmes in several specialised disciplines, including Critical Care Medicine, Neuro-anaesthesiology, Paediatric Anaesthesiology, Paediatric Critical Care, Neuro and Vascular Interventional Radiology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery, Lower Limb Arthroplasty, and Paediatric Urology.

According to the prospectus issued by the Examination Section, candidates can submit their applications online through the AIIMS Patna website from May 30 to June 14, 2026. Admit cards will be available for download from June 23, 2026, and the results are expected to be declared on or before July 1, 2026.

AIIMS Patna clarified that there is no upper age limit for applicants. Those likely to complete their qualifying degree by the stipulated date may also apply, subject to the fulfilment of eligibility conditions at the time of admission.

The entrance examination will be conducted in Patna only. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of percentile scores, and candidates will need to secure at least the 50th percentile to be considered eligible for admission.

METHOD OF RESOLVING TIES

1 According to Age (Date of Birth), the older candidate shall get preference over the younger one.

2 If the age is the same, then the candidate who has scored a less negative score will rank senior.

3 If the negative score is also the same, then a candidate who has obtained higher marks (Aggregate) in the MD/MS/MCh exam will rank senior.

4 If marks in MD/MS/MCh are also equal or if marks are not allotted, then a candidate who has obtained higher marks (Aggregate) in MBBS will rank as senior.

JOINING

The first counselling for admission will take place on 12.07.2026. The selected candidate is required to join the course on or before 18.07.2026. In case the selected candidate fails to join or intimate through surface email till 18.07.2026, it will be assumed that he/she does not intend to join the course and the seat will be offered to the next candidate in the order of merit list. The last date for admission to the course will be 31.07.2026. In any circumstances, the last date for admission will not be extended beyond 31.07.2026.
