BFUHS Admissions 2021: 1,390 MBBS, BDS Seats Remain Vaccant After Round 1

Faridkot: After round 1 of online counselling, around 70% BDS and 40% MBBS courses state-quota seats remained vacant at Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS)

According to a recent report by the HT, of the total 2600 MBBS and BDS state quota seats, 1390 remained vacant in 10 medical and 15 dental colleges in the state.

In 10 medical colleges, including four government medical colleges, across the state, 558 of the total MBBS state quota seats are vacant.

Twenty-nine of the 250 MBBS seats are vacant at Government Medical College, Amritsar; 76 of 225 seats at Government Medical College, Patiala; 31 of the 125 seats at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot; and 18 of 100 seats at Dr BR Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences, Mohali.

As many as 104 of 150 seats in Adesh Medical College, Bathinda, and 84 of 150 seats in SGRD Medical College, Amritsar, are vacant. Total 19 of 100 seats in DMC, Ludhiana; 28 of 75 seats in CMC, Ludhiana; 55 of 150 in PIMS, Jalandhar; and 54 of 150 in Gian Sagar Medical College are also vacant, as per media report by Hindusthan Times.

1,230 BDS seats in private and government colleges, only 398 have been allotted during the online counselling session held by the BFUHS. An official said 832 BDS seats remained vacant.

The provisional result will be displayed on March 11.

The candidates who will qualify for the NEET exam and fill out the application form will be eligible to participate further in the admission process. There are 3 rounds of counselling, including a mop-up round in case of vacant seats, will be conducted. Round 2 of counselling is scheduled to be started from 28th February 2022 till 6th March 2022. The candidates are asked to submit their willingness to participate in the counselling round 2. Candidates can fill their willingness to participate in round 2 till 27th February 2022. Fresh choices have to be filled by the candidates for round 2.
The admission for MBBS and BDS vacant seats would occur during round 2 of scheduled counselling. The provisional result will be displayed on 11th March 2022. Based on the choices filled by the candidates, reservation criteria, NEET rank, and seat matrix, the authorities will conduct seat allotment 2021. Authority will release a separate seat allotment list after each round of counselling.
Candidates who will be allotted seats will have to report to the allotted institute and original admission documents. Before reporting, shortlisted candidates will have to download the seat allotment letter from the official website and pay the tuition fee and get their admission reserved. During reporting, candidates will have to carry their original documents along with the seat allotment letter and fee payment receipt.
Baba Farid University of Health Sciences was established in July 1998 by Punjab Act No. 18. It is named after Baba Farid, a 12th-century Punjabi Sufi headquartered in Faridkot.
