DNB sponsored seats 2025: NBE releases eligibility criteria, seat position, check details

New Delhi: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has issued a notification regarding DNB Sponsored Seats for the 2025 admission session.

NBEMS introduced the Sponsored Seats scheme for DNB Broad specialities as well as Direct 6 Year Super Speciality Courses beginning with the 2020 admission session.

Initiated in 2020, this scheme for DNB Broad Specialities and Direct 6-Year Super Specialty Courses, sponsored seats are earmarked exclusively for in-service government doctors. These seats will be allotted to NBEMS-accredited hospitals meeting specific eligibility criteria, with final allocation strictly through centralized merit-based counseling

Under this scheme, a sponsored seat is allotted to an NBEMS accredited hospital provided the following eligibility criteria are met:

i. The NBEMS accredited department should have at least 3 non- sponsored seats in the concerned specialty.

ii. The hospital should have opted for / asked for inclusion of all the non- sponsored seats in the counseling of 2025 admission session in the concerned specialty.

iii. The department should have completed at least 01 year of accreditation.

iv. There should be an additional (surplus) faculty in the department duly approved by the NBEMS to accommodate the sponsored candidate.

The Sponsored seats are earmarked for regular In-Service doctors. The eligibility criteria for the candidates who will be allocated the sponsored seat are as under:

i. The candidate should be a NEET – PG 2025 qualified for Post MBBS DNB seats and PDCET-2025 qualified for Post Diploma DNB seats.

ii. The candidate should be employed on regular basis with the sponsoring Government organization.

iii. The candidate shall have to obtain a study leave, No Objection Certificate and fulfil other requirements as per the terms and conditions of the organization where the candidate is employed.

iv. The stipend for entire period of DNB training shall be borne by the sponsoring Government organization.

v. The candidate shall be required to participate in the centralized merit- based counselling through which sponsored seats shall be allocated strictly in order of inter se merit.

It may be noted that not all of these seats will necessarily be available for counseling. Availability depends on participating hospitals consenting to include all non-sponsored seats for the 2025 counseling in the relevant specialty, as indicated in para 1(ii) of the eligibility criteria above. The final list of sponsored seats for the 2025 admission session will be posted on the counseling website.
