Dr MGR Medical University Invites Applications For MSc Public Health, Apply Till 30 September

Tamil Nadu: Applications are invited for MSc Public Health for the academic year 2022-2023. Dr. M.G.R Medical University has announced this through a written notice.

The duly filled in application is complete in all respects along with a non-refundable application processing fee, including GST of Rs. 885 through Demand Draft drawn on any nationalized bank in favor of The Registrar, The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University, payable at Chennai or through Bank Challan at Indian Overseas Bank, The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University Branch, Chennai – 600 032 and Enclosures mentioned should reach The Registrar, The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai – 600032 on or before 5.45 pm on 30th September 2022.

Self-attested photocopies of -

1. Mark / Grade sheets of qualifying degree

2. Provisional Pass Certificate

3. Degree certificate of qualifying degree

4. Transfer certificate from the institution last studied / Proof of Birth

5. Migration certificate (if applicable)

6. Permanent Registration certificate from respective councils (if applicable)

7. Eligibility Certificate for admission to MSc (Public Health) course obtained from The Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University (for candidates from other universities)

Eligibility –

1. Bachelor of Science in Life sciences (including Food Tech, Dairy), Statistics, Nutrition, Social work, Communications or equivalent* from a recognized University acquired as a full-time student.

2. Bachelor's degree in health or health-related programs such as Medicine (MBBS), Dentistry (BDS), AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, BNYS, BHMS), Veterinary, Nursing, Physio/Occupational Therapy and Pharmacy, Bachelor in Engineering (Civil).

3. Work experience in a health-related field is desirable.

Duration –

The duration of the M.Sc. (Public Health) course is two years, and the students should complete the course in 4 years, failing which they will be discharged from the course.

Seats –

16 seats are there for the course for this academic year.

Method of selection -

Through the Entrance Examination, only The candidate would be selected for admission to the MSc (PH) program based on a written/ oral interview entrance test.

General Instructions -

1. It is the responsibility of the candidates to see the details on the website as they are published from time to time.

2. All inquiries should be addressed to the Head of Department, Department of Epidemiology, The Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R.Medical University, 69, Anna Salai, Guindy, Chennai – 600 032, Tamil Nadu.

3. Original Certificates should NOT be sent along with the completed application forms. The University will not be responsible for the consequences of sending original certificates.

4. Incomplete Applications and Applications without the specified enclosures will be rejected.

Selection Policy -

1. Selection will be based on a written entrance examination and an interview to be conducted with all the eligible candidates. The final selection will be made after the interview.

2. The candidate's understanding of basic human biology and disease processes and capacity to comprehend quantitative information, past academic performance, past experience, and confidential reports from referees will be taken into consideration wherever necessary.

3. Successful candidates will be provisionally selected for admission to the two years M.Sc. (Public Health) Degree course.

4. Decision of the University/Selection committee will be final.

8. Service certificate issued by the Head of the Office in respect of the service candidates

9. Certificate for Physical fitness by an authorized Medical Officer (at the time of admission)

Last date for joining the course -

Those finally selected and medically cleared for admission will be required to join the M.Sc.(Public Health) course on or before 28th October 2022 before 5.45 pm after paying the tuition fee and other fees for the first year of the course.

Course fee and Examination fee for the first year and second year -

Candidates are instructed to get fee details from the Department of Epidemiology.

Mode of payment of fees -

1. Tuition fees should be paid at the Indian Overseas Bank, The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University Branch, with a challan available at the branch.

2. The University reserves the right to revise the tuition fee/exam fee from time to time.

3. All fees, once paid, will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Candidates will be eligible for the Master of Degree in Public Health if they fulfill the following requirements –

1. Pass the written, practical and oral examination to be conducted at the end of the 1st year.

2. Submission and satisfactory defense of a thesis/dissertation produced following bonafide work of the candidate at the end of the 2nd year.

The candidates note that those who have passed any qualifying examination other than the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University shall obtain an "Eligibility Certificate" from this University by remitting the prescribed fee along with the application form and required documents before seeking admission to any one of the affiliated medical institutions.
