Puducherry: Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) has released the prospectus for MBBS admission 2022-23.

National Testing Agency (NTA) National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination (NEET) scores will be the basis for admission to the Puducherry and Karaikal campuses of JIPMER. The counselling will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), and Government of India (GoI) for both campuses.

Candidates are advised to read this Prospectus carefully and thoroughly before choosing JIPMER Puducherry or JIPMER Karaikal seats during the exercise of seat options in the online counselling held by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

Duration - The MBBS course duration is 4 years and 6 months, followed by 1 year of Compulsory Rotatory Internship for the Degree award.

Seats –

1. JIPMER Puducherry – 182

2. JIPMER Karaikal – 61

Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will apply the reservation roster on the seat matrix provided above and publish the reservation category-wise distribution of seats on the MCC website https://mcc.nic.in/.

5% of the seats are reserved horizontally to PwD candidates per the rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. The number and distribution of seats may vary depending upon the periodic directives/decisions from the competent authority and the Government of India.

Admission process –

1. The counselling for admission to MBBS courses in JIPMER Puducherry and Karaikal campuses will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India based on the NTA NEET 2022 All-India scores.

2. For the purpose of counselling and admissions, the Puducherry and Karaikal campuses of JIPMER are considered separate entities. However, the initial process involving admission including the medical board for both campuses, will be held in JIPMER Puducherry.

3. Admissions to the MBBS course is subject to the verification of certificates in original, approval of the medical board comprising specialist doctors, payment of the prescribed fees, and completion of all requisite procedures at JIPMER Puducherry or JIPMER Karaikal, as the case may be. A COVID-19 vaccination certificate is mandatory as per the order of the Director of Health and Family Welfare Services, UT of Puducherry.

The documents to be submitted at the time of admission –

1. Identity proof (as mentioned in the NTA NEET 2022 Information Bulletin).

2. Admit Cards of Exam issued by NTA.

3. Result/ Rank letter issued by NTA.

4. Provisional allotment letter generated online.

5. Proof of Date of Birth (Birth Certificate or X Std. Certificate).

6. Pass the Certificate of the qualifying examination.

7. Statement of marks of the qualifying examination.

8. Character and Conduct Certificate from the Head of the Institute last studied.

9. Residence Certificate issued by Revenue Authority, not below the rank of Tahsildar/Aadhaar card.

10. In the case of Other Backward Classes/ Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribes, a Community Certificate recently obtained from the competent authority – (as mentioned in the NTA NEET 2022 Information Bulletin)

11. Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) candidates should produce the required Income & Asset Certificate (as mentioned in the NTA NEET 2022 Information Bulletin)

12. Transfer Certificate from the Head of the Institution last studied or Migration Certificate.

13. In the case of Puducherry residents, the Residence Certificate / Employer Certificate is required in the Prospectus as per Annexure I.

14. Medical Certificate from the authorized centres as listed in the NTA NEET 2022 Information Bulletin in case of PwBD Candidate.

If the certificates are in a language other than English, an English translation of the certificate attested by a Gazette Officer should be produced. If the candidates withdraw their seat before or after the issue of the admission order, a penalty of Rs.10000 will be imposed in addition to forfeiture of fees paid at admission unless they are found medically disqualified.

All candidates should report within the time period mentioned in their 'allotment letter', failing which, they will forfeit the right to admission. If the competent authority finds that admission was sought based on false/ incorrect information/ documents and suppression of relevant facts, educational qualification or quota, the admission offered or the admission already completed shall be cancelled, irrespective of the stage of the study of that course. Further, legal proceedings will also be initiated against such candidates for such action.

Rejection to admission process –

1. Candidates who fail to fulfil the prescribed age limit criteria as per NTA NEET 2022 Information Bulletin.

2. Candidates who fail to obtain the minimum stipulated marks in the qualifying examination (as mentioned in the NTA NEET 2022 Information Bulletin).

3. Candidates who have applied under the Non-Creamy Layer OBC Category, whose sub-caste is NOT listed in the current Central OBC List, and whose certificate has NOT been submitted in the prescribed format from the Competent Authority.

4. The candidates who have applied under SC/ST Category WITHOUT valid certificate as in the prescribed format from the Competent Authority.

5. The Candidates who have applied under Puducherry-domicile status with No valid proof as mentioned in the prospectus above.

The tentative date of commencement of the course is November 02, 2022. Students shall come prepared to stay in Puducherry/Karaikal after admission.
