According to the official notice issued by the MCC in this regard, the candidates wishing to resign from their allotted seats in Round 1 or Round 2 will now be permitted to do so until 4:00 PM on December 29, 2025, subject to forfeiture of the security deposit.
In a significant relief to candidates, MCC has also extended the reporting period for Round 2 of NEET PG Counselling 2025. The new deadline for reporting at the allotted institute is 4:00 PM on December 29, 2025.
"The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of DGHS has received several requests from PG candidates seeking to resign their Round 1 or Round 2 seats, as the results of State Counselling are currently being declared and some States have not yet announced their results. In view of the above, the competent authority has decided to extend the time period for resignation. Accordingly, candidates who wish to resign from their Round 1 or Round 2 seats are permitted to do so up to 04:00 PM on 29.12.2025 with forfeiture of security deposit. Further, the reporting period for Round 2 of PG Counselling has also been extended up to 04:00 PM on 29.12.2025," the notice read.
The extension aims to address concerns raised by candidates whose state counselling results were delayed or announced late due to technical or administrative issues.
The decision follows multiple representations received by MCC from postgraduate aspirants and state counselling authorities. Notably, the Rajasthan State NEET PG Counselling Board informed authorities about delays in declaring its Round-2 results due to technical issues and sought an extension of the resignation timeline to help affected candidates.
Therefore, candidates are advised to complete the resignation procedures within the extended deadline. Physically report to their allotted colleges, where applicable and be aware that resignation during this period will involve forfeiture of the security deposit.
