New Delhi: A senior NTA official recently stated that a total of 3.2 lakh candidates have applied online to change their examination centres for the NEET UG re-exam for the academic year 2026 to June 21.

Following the rescheduling of the exam, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has allowed candidates to select different examination centres of their choice.

Meanwhile, speaking at a separate event in Delhi on Friday, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stated that the Central Government has made every possible effort to ensure that a 100 per cent error-free re-examination is conducted. Additionally, several stringent measures have been taken to eliminate malpractice.

Following the cancellation of the examination due to a paper leak, education officials stated that no new fee would be charged for the re-conducted NEET exam. Consequently, the fee collected for the examination held in May will also be refunded.

On this, the NTA has also initiated the process of refunding the fees submitted by candidates for the examination that was cancelled on May 3. A dedicated 'Fee Refund Portal' has been created for this purpose, and candidates have been asked to submit their details starting Friday night (May 22). The actual refund of fees will take place after May 27.

According to the TNIE media news report, a senior NTA official said, "With the National Testing Agency permitting candidates to opt for different centres if they prefer for the rescheduled NEET-UG exam on June 21, a total of 3.2 lakh candidates have applied online for a change of venue."

The officials added, "We have started the refund process from Friday night (May 23). The deadline to claim refunds is May 27 until 11:50 pm. We will collate all the details and start refunding the money after May 27."

Meanwhile, General category candidates have paid a fee of ₹1,700; OBC and EWS candidates, ₹1,600; SC, ST, and differently-abled persons, ₹1,000; and NRI candidates, ₹9,500.
