NEET PG- Do Not Compel Candidates to Resign from Counselling or Forfeit Deposit Till Round 2 Result is Declared: MP HC
Madhya Pradesh High Court
Jabalpur: The Madhya Pradesh High Court recently directed the Central Government and the State Government authorities not to compel postgraduate medical aspirants to resign from the All India 2nd Round counselling of the National Eligibility-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) and forfeit the security deposit until the state declares the results of the 2nd round of counselling.
While considering the plea by the NEET PG aspirants in this regard, the HC Division bench of Justices Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Anuradha Shukla issued directions in this regard to the Union of India, Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) through Directorate General of Health Services, State Government through Principal Secretary Department of Forest, Director of Medical Education and the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS).
Accordingly, the Court ordered, "... the respondents are directed not to compel the petitioners to resign as also not to forfeit the security amount till the result of the 2nd round counselling is declared by the State."
The plea was filed by MBBS graduates, who appeared in the NEET PG 2024 examination. After securing the requisite percentile, the petitioners became eligible to participate in the counselling at both All India Quota (AIQ) and State levels.
