NIMHANS Invites Online Application For BSc, Certificate, Diploma Courses, Apply Till 7th July

Bengaluru: National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) has invited online applications for BSc, Certified, and Diploma Courses for the academic year 2023-24.

Application fee –

1. Indian National Applicants belonging to General or OBC or EWS Category and Foreign National Applicants - Rs. 1000/- per course

2. Indian National Applicants belonging to SC or ST Category - Rs. 750/- per course

3. Indian National Applicants belonging to PwBD Category (40%-70% Disability) - No application fee

The application should be submitted through online mode (only) along with all the attachments, signatures and photographs through the link available on the website along-with this Prospectus. All claims made in the application must be supported with documentary proof in original, along with a set of photocopies at the time of admission.

A candidate can apply for a maximum of 3 (three) courses only (provided they are eligible). Candidates are not permitted to submit multiple online applications. Any reasons for delay in submission of application / or applications received after the last date will not be considered under any circumstances.

Documents to be submitted along with the application form –

Certificates/Documents to be uploaded under the ‘educational qualification’ Field -

1. 10th /SSLC/Matriculation Certificate.

2. HSLC or 12th or I & II PUC or Equivalent of 12 years of schooling from a Recognized Board or University Mark Sheet.

3. Statement of Marks of Job Oriented Diploma with Diagnostic (If applicable).

4. Mark Sheets or Statements of Marks for All Years of a Degree or Diploma Course (If applicable).

5. Transfer Certificate from School/College/Institution where the Candidate last studied.

6. Migration Certificate from the Board/Department of Pre-University Education/University under whom the Candidate last studied.

Certificates/Documents to be uploaded under the ‘Caste/Community Certificate’ Field (Refer also to ‘Student Categories’ Section’ of this Prospectus) -

1. OBC Certificate (for details regarding the requirements of the OBC Certificate, kindly refer to the ‘Annexure’ Section of this Prospectus).

2. SC/ST Certificate (for details regarding the requirements of the OBC Certificate, kindly refer to the ‘Annexure’ Section of this Prospectus).

If the above certificates are in the vernacular language of the state, then a certified translation copy in English needs to be uploaded along with Original Certificate.

Certificates/Documents to be uploaded under the ‘Domicile Certificate’ Field -

1. Recent and valid domicile certificate with a minimum of 07 Years issued by the Tehsildar (with a certified translation copy in English if the certificate is in the language of the state by the issuing authority).

2. If the domicile certificate is of lesser duration than specified above, then a valid document/certificate that the candidate/his or her parent(s) has been a resident of the said domicile state or has owned or possessed land or property or house in the said domicile state.

Certificates/Documents to be uploaded under the ‘EWS Certificate’ Field -

1. To claim that candidates should produce the latest income certificate of their parents issued by Gazetted Officers of the Government of India, the Certificate should be uploaded in the Online Application Form. The Certificate should also be submitted on the day of admission to the course.

Certificates/Documents to be uploaded under the ‘PwBD Certificate’ Field -

2. Disability Certificate validating the ‘Type of Disability’ Field in the Online Application Form. The Certificate should also be submitted on the day of admission to the course.

Eligibility –

1. Candidates with PUC or 10 + 2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with 45% aggregate in the above subjects can apply for B.Sc. in Nursing course.

2. Candidates with PUC or 10 + 2 with English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology or job-oriented diploma courses from a recognized board with an aggregate of 45% can apply for B.Sc. in Radiography course.

3. Candidates with PUC or 10 + 2 or equivalent with a Science group having secured an aggregate of 45% in Science subjects for B.Sc. in Anaesthesia Technology/ B.Sc. in Clinical Neurophysiology & Technology courses.

4. A relaxation of 5% marks in aggregate will be given for candidates belonging to SC/ST category.

5. The candidates who are/have been sponsored/deputed employees of Govt. of India / State Government Institutions / Universities and Public Sector Undertakings.

6. The candidates should have pursued and awarded qualifications from a recognized Board.

7. Minimum Age Limit: 17 Years

8. Maximum Age Limit: 25 Years

9. Age is relaxable by a maximum of 5 years in the case of SC/ST/PwBD candidates for the courses where the seats are reserved for OBC/SC/ST only.

1. B.Sc. in Radiography / B.Sc. in Anaesthesia Technology / B.Sc. in Clinical Neurophysiology Technology: 3 years

2. B.Sc. in Nursing: 4 years

The candidates will be classified under the following –

1. Indian Nationals – Unreserved OR General Category, Other Backward Classes Category, Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) Categories, Domicile Category, EWS Category, Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) Category

Details issued –

1. If no eligible candidates are available against reserved seats (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) in the concerned course, they shall be filled by eligible candidates from the general/unreserved merit category of the same course.

2. The candidates who are awaiting the results may also appear for the entrance test, subject to the production of proof of having passed the examination on or before the date of admission to the course.

3. In case any candidate/applicant/student is found to have supplied false information or a false certificate or is found to have withheld or concealed some information, he/she shall be debarred from continuing the course and shall face such appropriate action initiated against him/her by the Competent Authority of the Institute.

4. Selected candidates should submit Transfer Certificate (from the College/Institute where the last eligible qualification is attained) and Migration Certificate (from the University to which the College/Institute is affiliated where the last eligible qualification is attained) at the time of admission.

5. All relevant communications regarding the UG entrance test will be notified on the official website from time to time.

6. COVID-19 safety guidelines, as issued by the Government of India, must be followed.

7. The link to download the Admit cards for the entrance test will be available on NIMHANS Website one week prior to the examination, and the candidates are instructed to download and produce the hardcopy of the same on the day of the entrance test.

8. Any dispute with regard to any matter referred to herein shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Bengaluru Courts only.

9. The decision of the Director shall be final in all matters of selection of candidates for admission to the various courses, and no appeal shall be entertained on this subject.

Conduct of Entrance Test –

1. Entrance test will be conducted in Bengaluru city only.

2. Common Entrance Test will be conducted for all 4 B.Sc. courses for 100 marks, and the seat allotment is based on the merit list.

3. Eligible candidates for Entrance Test will be informed to download the admit card, which should be produced at the time of the Entrance Test.

4. No individual intimation will be sent to candidates who are not selected, and no correspondence on this subject will be entertained.

5. The candidates are requested to keep themselves updated by visiting the NIMHANS Official website https://nimhans.ac.in regularly from time to time.

6. Candidates called for Entrance Test will have to make their own arrangements for travel and stay where the test is conducted. Candidates called for Admission must make their own travel arrangements and stay at Bengaluru if required. No TA/DA will be paid by NIMHANS.

7. The question paper for the Entrance test will contain multiple-choice objective-type questions. The duration of the test for each course will be 90 minutes, and the number of questions to be answered is 100.

8. There will be negative markings, and 0.25 marks will be deducted for all wrong answers. No marks will be deducted for unanswered questions.

9. Any changes in date, time, venue and or schedule of the Entrance Tests, Interviews,/ Admission will be announced on the website and notice boards of the Institute.

10. In the event of unforeseen problems/force majeure, a re-exam will be held later only for those who attended the abandoned exam. NIMHANS reserves the right to decide whether the re-exam relates to one or more cities, one or more centres, or one or more courses.

11. Possession/use of mobile phones/spy cameras/ Bluetooth and any other electronic devices is strictly prohibited on the premises of NIMHANS entrance test centres. Candidates shall be liable for penal action for any such act.

Announcement of results and pre-admission formalities -

1. Selection will be purely based on merit in the Entrance Test.

2. Preference of course, if selected in multiple courses or willingness to join the course, should be provided by the candidate.

3. If no eligible candidates are available against reserved seats, they shall be filled up from the general merit category.

4. A merit list will be prepared course-wise and reserved category-wise based on the marks scored by the candidates in the entrance test. Eligible candidates list will be notified for admission to all courses. A separate merit list will be prepared for courses with Karnataka domicile.

5. In the case of two or more candidates obtaining equal marks in the Entrance test, their inter se merit will be determined as under:

7. If the number of attempts is the same, candidates securing higher marks in the qualifying exam will be considered.

8. If marks are also the same, then age will be the criterion i.e., the person who is senior in age shall be ranked higher.

9. In the event that one of the candidates or all of the candidates have not been awarded marks in the qualifying exam relevant to the course, then age will be the sole criterion i.e., the person who is senior in age shall be ranked higher.

10. In the event of the same date of birth, the candidate with fewer negative marks in the Entrance Test will be considered higher.

11. List of all the qualified candidates and those called for admission will be notified on the Institute’s website and notice board. No separate individual intimation will be given. Non-receipt of notice by any individual candidate will not vitiate the selection process regarding the publication of results on the notice board and the NIMHANS Official website.

12. The decision of the Director in all matters regarding selection will be final, and no representation in any form will be entertained.

Admission/joining and commencement of the course -

1. After the Entrance Test, a list of candidates qualified for admission in the order of merit will be announced on both the website and the notice board of the Institute with the details of the venue, date and time of admission.

2. No form of representation on behalf of any candidate/s will be entertained on the day of admission. If a candidate does not attend admission on the designated day as per the Schedule announced, will be marked as absent, and his/ her candidature for the admission process will be cancelled. Such candidates will not be considered for the purpose of operating a waiting list for the particular course/s.

3. The candidates will be instructed to produce and submit the original certificates/documents for verification.

4. A candidate should produce all necessary documentary proof of all claims made in the Online application form.

Internship –

Interns will be paid Rs. 13,500/- per month

The candidates selected under the ‘Sponsorship/Deputation Category’ or who are drawing pay and allowances from their employers are not eligible for any emoluments from Institute.
